let the red ants go back to DVD so they can have a peace of mind. I'm worry about their mental health being though.....they might go postal or something.

So is he going to turn the HD Now website into a blu-ray website or just leave it? What about that poor guy who started the savehddvd.com website just last week when the Wal-Mart news hit? It has got to be pretty useless now.

"We saw how close HD DVD came to "winning" the struggle, with Fox reported to be about to defect to HD DVD, along with Warner, until some last minute negotiating was undertaken by the BD folks."

The only negotiating was way better sales on the blu side. only Paramount was dumb enough to go against the format that had better sales and go HD-DVD exclusive.

No kidding. A disturbing amount of personal worth based on something one has no control whatsoever on.

i dont understand why so many people think blu-ray prices could rise. a format war is not healthy competition. within the format is healthy competition (i.e., panasonic vs samsung vs sony vs phillips etc.) as soon as blu-ray becomes a little more mainstream, we will be seeing $100 Blu-ray players!

I don't see how Paramount or Dreamworks lost (or was dumb enough as you say) - unless they have to return the money. They basically got $150 million for 6 months or so of exclusivity. Sure they lost some Blu sales, but that pales in comparison to the $150 million they got for sticking with HD-DVD. And, after all that, they get to return to Blu and generate more sales. Not so dumb after all.

We can see the faces of RED camp supporter these days.

Most of them are HDM lover but misinformed or just don't like sony.

Some of them are paid by M$ or simply m$ fanboys who will follow m$ like Rob Endere.

I just didn't get why they supported HD-DVD so firmly (talking about the non-MS paid shills here). Maybe they were uber-early adopters and invested over $800 in players and had to keep fighting to keep their investment alive. Plus, then they started buying all the crap Amir and others were spouting about how VC1 was so grand at low bitrates and DD+ was "just fine".

My favourite quote out of this entire format war was a post on HDD forums titled after the Warner announcement "Microsoft only you can save us now." They actually expected Microsoft to buy Warner and force them to change back to HD-DVD.

In the words of Alec Guiness - "Madness....."

Most people are instinctly to protect his choice of purchase just to prove he/she is not idiot to buy a wrong product. It is very hard to accept defeat for human nature.

A few bitter people on that tread I would say, and I agree Blu-ray prices will not go up, If studios want this to become their next cash cow, they know that DVD prices need to come up and BD prices to come down. Otherwise they hurt there next big income.

i like the guy who replied first to that thread. refusing to buy blu-ray because he's an hd-dvd fanboy. what a moron.his feelings are hurt, so he is gonna deprive himself of a great technology like blu-ray. people like that need to see the big picture. it's about a quality home entertainment experience for consumers, not which team wins. it's a format war, not a sport.

i prefer blu-ray, but if hd-dvd was the victor i would'nt shed any tears.

anyone who has been holding back on building a large blu-ray collection can breath a sigh of relief that they are free to buy away.
