The Weinstein Company are handling it for us Stateside so who knows how long we're gonna have to wait. and they plan to release it theatrically so that means it'll likely be re-edited and possibly even dubbed into english. F************K!!!

Thanks HK blu-ray for being region A. ur a saving grace.

The BBFC have cut the trailer by 2 secs for animal cruelty. That will likely translate to equal or more time cut for the full movie.

It looks like the movie passed with no cuts, despite the trailer being cut for horse tripping.

The HK Blu-ray is 109 minutes and the BBFC page states 104 minutes, which leads me to speculate that Icon could have submitted a pre-cut version of the film.

Also makes me wary of how they'll treat Shaolin, they trip the shit out of a whole bunch of horses in that one. I cringed watching the horse falls in Shaolin, at one point a horse trips and rolls over going down stairs. Crazy!

If I'm not mistaken, the BBFC lists PAL runtimes.

Also, Shaolin has been cut by 7 seconds for animal cruelty.

PAL runtime could explain it, I'm not sure. I'm shocked that Shaolin only cut 7 seconds, the horses in that movie take a serious beating.

Just watched this tonight and was a little bit disappointed.

The film has a nice cinematic look that is visually stunning one minute and dull and boring the next. I found some of the imagery soft at times but there is a nice authentic layer of grain.

Fine detail is surprisingly good throughout and black levels are deep. Whilst deep the moment the scene goes dark they become heavy, pixelated a lot of detail is lost.

Contrast falters early on in the with intermittent flickering and sudden spikes in the film's grain field starting in the first 10-15 minutes the film and continuing until the end.

Most of the budget seems to have been spent on sets, uniforms and weapons leaving very little left for make up and realistic wigs and it really does show in some of the scenes.

One last annoying point is the subtitles, why we can get authentic translations is beyond me. Words like wee meaning little, trifle as in "we are in a trifle" and bullshit are used.

This said for the most part the detail remains impressive and the film is a worth a watch, I'd recommend a rent or download before jumping to purchase this.

It will be one to grab when it hits the bargain bins.

Audio Quailty was spot on

I agree with much of above except for black levels. Black levels are elevated on this release, so blacks appear dark gray. Other than that, I thought it was pretty good.

I recently bought a pre-owned copy of the Icon release at Ebay. Unfortunately, the movie is cut by 3 seconds for the horse tripping, as suggested in the trailer.
