Default Best Budget Receiver?

Hey everyone, i'm looking into setting up my first home theatre and i just have no idea about which receiver to get, how important is having something with dolby atmos? I'd be looking at getting the best budget receiver i could get, can anyone give me any ideas which receiver would be good to pair with a UB820?

I feel lost lol.

I'd recommend getting a 7.2 channel receiver that supports Dolby Atmos. You can find decent ones for under 500. Costco has the Denon AVR-S750H and Onkyo TX-NR595 for $400.

Some questions that will make it easier to give a recommendation:
  • What is your budget?
  • What speakers do you have / are you planning to buy?
  • What will you be using this for? Movies only? Games? Hybrid home theater and music stereo setup?

Depends on your speaker setup. It's worth it in that it's the latest standard in home theater audio, but depending on your speaker quantity / placement / quality you may or may not be able to tell the difference between other Dolby formats.

My budget would be about 1K and i will have to buy speakers also and i would use it mostly for movies and gaming.

So, just to be clear, your $1K budget is for the receiver and speakers, or just the receiver? And are you also interested in speaker recommendations, or do you already have something in mind there?

yup, 1k for just the receiver, and no i'm not really sure about the speakers either, my budget for speakers would be anywhere from 300-500 bucks.

I would spend $1000 on the speakers and 300-500 on the receiver.

Speakers are what you hear.

The Denon at Costco would be a great choice.

There are several ways you can approach your build. My suggestion would be to start smaller with quality and flexibilty, staying within budget.

The following will do that, at approximately $1500 total (AVR $650, Speakers $850).

Yamaha RX-V6A
SVS Prime Bookshelf Speakers
SVS Prime Center Speaker

AVR has power and features for future.

Good luck.

If you can spend 1k on a receiver, that's enough for a 9-channel receiver. I'd recommend the Pioneer VSX-LX304 or the Onkyo TXNR797. They're both $800 and with them you'd be able to do a 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 setup. I'd recommend the latter.

I have an Onkyo TX-NR595. The sound keeps going in and out with the speaker on the back of the TV always on while hooked up to HDMI ARC.

I don't know if this is a good receiver to choose or even if the TV ARC went bad.

Right now I say be cautious with purchasing this model.
