United Kingdom Rumours (Guy Madden, Cate Blanchett, Charles Dance, Alicia Vikander, March 2025)

What an amazing cast. Now, Madden likes to push the edges of what is watchable and after watching 60secs of the trailer no change there.

I'll be watching of course.

Any Guy Maddin on Blu-ray is cause for celebration!

Wanted to see this theatrically but just wasn’t screened at all near me (and Queer was barely showing, only at awkward late screenings a bit too far away, so I missed that too). Will pick this up at some point and have some fun with it!

It has a great ending, but it’s pretty insufferable for the most part.

Hopefully some more recent Universal titles will be cropping up soon, been waiting to hear about Anora and A Different Man for a while now.

Surprised Universal appears to be releasing this in house rather than licensing to Mediumrare/Dazzler.

Caught this in the cinema and loved it. If only more Maddin was available on HD.

Also surprised, but perhaps it's something to do with Cate Blanchett being in it more than anything else. Niche films can sometimes get surprisingly wide distribution just because someone in it is a household name.

Will they do the same with Anora and A Different Man or will one of the two you mentioned distribute them? If The Brutalist sweeps the Oscars as predicted, Universal will probably handle the physical release of that.

Universal via Madman have only managed a DVD in Australia for A Different Man https://www.sanity.com.au/products/3...-Different-Man but it has a release in Canada https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=382113

Apparently Universal passed on The Substance too.

I would have loved to see it theatrically but Universal give quite limited releases to films like Touch and in December cinemas tend to favour festive reissues and blockbusters over indie/world cinema/documentaries new releases.
