I've got this on my shopping list over at Amazon but I'm hesitant to buy it now because I've gotten mixed opinions about the movie. Is it a great in terms of Picture Quality and Audio Quality?

What extras does it have? Compared to the DVD version?

Is the movie even good?

I know I saw a website somewhere on this forum that reviews all High Def movie releases so if anyone has anything like that I would greatly appreciate it.

Other movies I'm curious about whether people feel that its a truly a great High Def experience are Planet Earth, We Own the Night, Happy Feet, Cars, Ratatouille, & X-Men 3.

Anyways happy that the war is over and I'm really looking forward to my first Bluray Player!

I bought it on release day and don't regret it at all. Although there are some aspects that could be improved it was a very enjoyable movie. If you're looking for top notch PQ you'll be disappointed as this is not reference material.

Do NOT waste your money or 3 hours of your life on this horrendous movie. It has absolutely NO action, 1 robbery in the whole movie, no big gun fights, like 3 people get shot in the whole damn movie, absolutely a waste, I can't believe they got Brad Pitt to sign on to this POS. Please save your money. Just my 2 cents.

While this is true, I really enjoyed the movie. Make no mistake it is a drama. If you go into this movie looking for young guns 2.5 you will be dissapointed. However, if you go into this movie with no preconceptions and enjoy watching films about characters you will be pleasantly surprised.

On a side note, Casey Affleck should not have been nominated for Supporting Actor as his role is the predominant role in the film and significantly larger than the other nominees. That being said he did a terrific job.

The movie is a fantastic flick. Some times movies don't have to have dozens of deaths for it to be entertaining. It has oscar nominations for Casey Affleck and Cinematography. So if you can enjoy three very dialogue driven hours with great acting and cinematography I suggest you pick it up. This along with No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood were my favorites for the year.

I was also enraged by Casey Affleck being considered the supporting role. The movie is clearly more focused around him and somehow even his name in the title prevents him from being the main character. I suppose Johnny Depp did a better job in Sweeney Todd to be nominated? I think not.

You don't necessarily have to kill people to do a good movie

But I agree that if you expect an action movie, you will likely be deceive by it.

It was a great movie but it's a shame that the transfer was not better (Warner needs to start using the capacity of blu-ray).

A very moody period piece about James, lacking in action but high in drama (anyone interested in American history in the Old West should enjoy this story). I agree with the post about Affleck, he was the main character IMO, not supporting (an he did a great job as Bob Ford). Not a good BD to show off your system, the transfer is grainy with intentionally blurry or out-of-focus shots, muted colors, also too much edge enhancement in places.

I rented this through Netflix and I have to say, it was an excellent film. True, you would think that a movie about Jesse James might have a lot of action/killing, but this is a drama about the events that led up to his assassination by Robert Ford.

The acting is great, especially on Casey Affleck's part and the style of the movie is pretty unique - not your typical western like movie, however a great historical piece.

As far as extras, I think there is one maybe.

I've decided to get the movie but I might just wait to see if the price gets lower of if Amazon does another sale that includes the movie.

I like watching all sorts of movies and this seems like a really deep kinda dramatic movie with intense storylines so I'm very interested in it.

i don't expect much action in a period western thankfully, as i just rented this, about to throw it in and check it out. as for your list OP, i would say DO NOT buy we own the night, rent it first, i was completely disappointed in that flick.

You should have read a review or anything regarding the movie before going out to buy it. It would have been obvious then that this is -not- an action movie.

I thought the movie was great. Brad Pitt did such a great job, I managed to forget he was Brad Pitt. It won't be everyone's cup of tea though. My mother and wife found it boring.

I admit, it could have used more editing.

I knew it was jsut a talky type movie going in and thought it was a great movie.....not really any action but thats not what this movie is about....Im sad to see that people didnt like it because there wasnt enough death and blood...shouldnt get panned because of that.....its a great drama, Pitt plays Jesse very well and looks the part.....great cinematography, some scenes are just shot amazingly....I thought the picture quality was top notch...there was some minor grain and such but it was intended so I cant deduct points from that alone....sound is jsut a standard DD 5.1 but its not like PCM is needed....again not an action movie....but I suggest a rental because its not for everyone....I enjoy dramas and all types of movies so I was very pleased....
