USA A Real Pain (2024) Blu-ray

I'm happy to see that A Real Pain will be getting a Blu-ray release on February 4th from Searchlight Pictures. It's written, and directed by Jesse Eisenberg, who also co-stars along with Kieran Culkin. I saw the film last month, and thought it was great. It's on the short side, but has a nice blend of comedy and drama, and also features some really beautiful (though sometimes somber) locales around Poland. Culkin is amazing in this, and will likely be a front-runner for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. My screening also had a Q&A with Jesse Eisenberg, which I really enjoyed. You can read my full impressions of the film, and Q&A here. The sole extra is a making-of featurette.

Mismatched cousins David and Benji tour Poland to honor their grandmother. Their adventure becomes complicated as old tensions resurface while exploring their family history.

I saw it in theaters and knew that I wanted a copy for myself. I'll be picking one up for myself as soon as it releases!

It's still 3 weeks away and now that Sony has ruined Disney's already high prices, you could be waiting a while.

Yeah, they have found my breaking point. I wouldn't have thought twice about a blind buy back in the days when this would've been selling for around $17.99 release week. But, at these prices with almost no supplemental content (a commentary would've sold it)? If the goal was to push me to streaming, mission accomplished. I have the ad-supported Hulu sub (and I hate to "upgrade" since it was free with my phone) and generally would not even bother since I can't stand the way Hulu handles ads during movies (other streaming services will front-load the ads at the beginning of the movie so the movie isn't interrupted). As soon as the first ads popped up, I stopped it, headed to go just order it....remembered the price, turned around, and just gave in and watched the rest of it.

We'll see where it's at on black friday.

Edit - OR I forgot I apparently pre-ordered it a while ago and didn't realize it and now it's been shipped. Whoops.

This is $24.99 plus an extra 15% off with the code HEARTS at Deep Discount right now. Works out to $21.24 before shipping/taxes. Best deal you'll find for the film.
