Default Christmas hate thread

A year is not long at all. We JUST did this. The rituals become so repetitive after the first fourteen cycles. How about once every three years?

Mostly terrible, terrible music. Did not know or forgot that Queen made a Christmas song. One of their worst ever.

Whenever I pick or pack dozens of gift cards at the warehouse, I think, This person really hates Christmas and can't admit it. "Here's your gift card. Buy yourself whatever you want with it and leave me alone. I can't figure out what you all want anymore."

Giving randomly seems nicer. It's not their birthday or Christmas, but you still want to give. Oh, can't do that because you'd have to outdo yourself for their approaching B-day or Christmas.

I'm fine with Christmas itself. It's the three to four month frenetic build-up to it that I can not stand.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I wish people in my family would stop with Christmas gifts. It just creates unnecessary work and stress for all of us. Spending time with your relatives/friends should be adequate enough for Christmas time. Gifts are just unnecessary. But that’s just my two cents on the matter.

My family has stopped going all out on Christmas. Which is fine I guess. But that sort of misses the point of Christmas to me. I don't buy gifts because of some obligation. I buy Christmas presents because I want to. I love seeing people's eyes light up when they open a gift and see something so wonderful. Even something so surprising and heartfelt. I don't always get to do those kinds of gifts as some of the people in my life are IMPOSSIBLE to shop for. So, I opt for the gift card because I don't know what else to really do. But, nonetheless, I love giving and it brings me so much joy.

I don't like to give gift cards. I prefer to give cash when I do not have specific ideas as to what somebody wants. Why restrict them to one store?

I don't care about any of them. Care so little that I don't even know when exactly half of 'em are.

Halloween is the most fun holiday. Thanksgiving is the one that gives us the best meal and lots of hanging out with family and friends, so that one ranks high for me. Christmas? Christmas is during a cold and damp time of year, and darker as well. I wish I could say that I enjoy it, but I really just don’t. So much prep, and so many different kinds of prep, too. I enjoy decorating the yard for Halloween, and I go all out; but I don’t put out even a wreath for Christmas. As a young man I was educated in a local Catholic school. As a huge paleontology buff, I often enjoyed debating science vs. the Bible. It made me wildly popular, but not in a good way. The experience has generally put me off religious holidays for life.

Christmas music is great. You just need to find the right Christmas music. Bobnoxiuos and Bob Rivers. Weird Al's The Night Santa Went Crazy is also a favourite.

I like Ho Ho Ho by Liz Phair. So sardonic and what Christmas really is for a lot of us.

Love Christmas and the Dropkick Murphys BUT hate the Red Sox.

I try to get up to Plymouth Harbor annually. The seafood comes fresh out of the ocean right off the boat. Love that chowda!
