Default The X-Files 30th Anniversary complete rewatch thread

Just got done watching S01E01 Pilot. Might only watch one episode per day while I'm still on my Cheers binge and then I've got my Frasier binge to start next Saturday when it's the 30th anniversary of that, but here's my favourite quote from the pilot,

Scully: You're saying that time disappeared. Time can't just disappear. It's a universal invariant!
Mulder: Not in this zip code!

I might watch a couple of episodes tonight. The only thing in the X-Files that is more unbelievable than aliens, vampires, ghost and shape-shifters is the fact that Mulder didn't strangle Scully by season three.

That's a picture of actress Gillian Anderson, not X-Files character Dana Scully.

If I was Fox Mulder and blessed to be six feet tall, I would date someone taller.

I think this is the scene where he criticizes her short legs. He was right. What is this? Almost right up against the steering wheel.

I might revisit some of the better episodes, I tried watching the Season 5 Premiere two-parter, it was rough. Scully once again mysteriously sick and near death...AGAIN.

Told myself maybe I'd watch the pilot again after that last game of Crazy Taxi. But forgot. Now it's 12:03 AM... Oh well. Never been big on anniversaries.

I never got around to finishing this, I gave up Season 6. After the movie it sort of fizzled out for me.

I think my favorite episode is the one where people are seeing messages on cash registers and microwaves and stuff.

The episode "Home" is still one of the more disturbing episodes that you will watch, so of course it is one of my favourite ones.

The Peacocks could give Leatherface and family a run for their money.

I'm firmly in Doggett/Reyes territory, season 9.
The rear end of 8 and beginning of 9 have been great so far

S01E02 Deep Throat

Deep Throat: Mr. Mulder, why are those like yourself who believe in the existence of extra-terrestrial life on this earth not dissuaded by all the evidence to the contrary?
Mulder: Because, all the evidence to the contrary is not entirely dissuasive.
Deep Throat: Precisely!
Mulder: They're here, aren't they?
Deep Throat: Mr. Mulder, *they*'ve been here for a long, long time.

I'm getting close to finishing my re-watch, watched I Want To Believe last night. I just have the 2 reboot seasons left. It's still my all time favorite show.

I didn't even realize it was the 30th anniverary!

The X-Files is my favorite tv show of all time. I even like, to varying degrees, the lesser episodes and the newer episodes. When I do a rewatch, I watch every single episode and both movies in order and it usually takes several months, as I also simultaneously keep up with a few newer shows, plus the odd movie here and there too.

I just started rewatching it all again a couple of weeks ago and I'm up to S01E19 "Shapes".

All episodes plus both movies is approximately 163 hours, so if you watched it round the clock, 24 hours a day, you could be finished in just under a week (~6.8 days).

Came into this show a bit late. When I unpack my set and watch, the first 3 or so seasons will be for the first time. Can't wait!

I envy you, experiencing it for the first time.

It will, however, be interesting to see if those of us that hold it in such high regard (it's my fav show ever) do so with slightly rose tinted glasses

I was a casual fan of this show, more than a devoted one during its original run. I did like the first movie though, and most of the episodes I did see were pretty good. But now, I've made up my mind to start collecting the seasons on Blu-Ray (the big boxset is too expensive). Each season hovers around $20 used, so that's about $200 with shipping factored in.
