Default Call of Duty 4 Question...

I was playing online the other day, and came across the most vulgar, disgusting player I've ever seen online.

I wanted to know... Can you vote people off of a server, or mute them? I looked all over my menus but couldn't find out how.

I'm rarely hosting games. Is this something that only the server host can do?

unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can do now. no way to vote players off, and no way to mute.

the imminent patch is supposed to implement the ability to mute specific players though, so there is hope inbound. no news on being able to vote someone off the game lobby, though.

in terms of hosting, it's basically whoever "created" that lobby (i.e. was the first person in it waiting for other players to be matched in) is the host.

A way to report players would be nice. That's one of the things about Live that I really like.

I agree. I can't believe how many people use microphones, yet so few of them actually do anything productive with them such as giving commands. All I usually hear is a contest for who can use the most profanity in one match.

A mute button would definitely be nice.

I sometimes come across this. It mostly happens when im playing with my clan. If we get into a room with a diff clan thats usually when all the potty mouths come out.

You can mute by turning on your own headset and not putting it in your ear.

Sure, but then I wouldn't be able to communicate with my more respectable teammates.

About a year ago i was playing COD2 on the 360. I just could'nt believe what i was hearing over comms. There was a shit kicking hill billy & he was arguing with his wife/girlfriend. His language was bad enough but in the background you could hear this baby crying. This was annoying Cletus & hes screaming abuse at his wife telling her to shut the baby up & shes screaming abuse at him calling him a lazy fat pig.

it's a two-way street, meaning you can report someone even though they didn't do anything in particular, but also you can send some good feedback to your friends (and in that way you can build up your reputation, but who cares);

+1 here, i see a lot of people have their mics hooked up, but without any useful usage;

-and yes a mute function is maybe the best solution to this problem

Unfortunately, people without headsets still have to listen to these mouth-breathers thru their speakers. The patch will let you mute these idiots in game, but we'll still be stuck with them in the lobby.
