The worst thing movie-wise is watching an amazing movie that is close to perfect in every way... and then it gets ruined by a horrible ending. Which movies can you think of where this description fits?
On the top of my head, it's the movie "Unthinkable" with Samuel L Jackson. It was so intense and well made, but simply because of the ending it became a total failure of a movie. The whole thing was ruined. |

I saw it, and I have no idea what you're talking about. The ending of Ex Machina was perfect

...as I thought "Unthinkable" was brilliant from start to finish, I wonder if you'd care to elaborate and perhaps explain why (in your opinion), the ending supposedly ruined the film to such an extent, so as to render the entire thing a "failure of a movie". ![]() |

![]() [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] Anyway, for me, not ruined exactly because I think it's an awesome movie but the way the prestige ended, it kind of has slightly too much confirming one solution to the mystery, whereas I think it works MUCH better if it leaves open the possibility that it's a red herring, in terms of how it fits with the themes and that dialogue/narration near the end. |

The Grey - That ending pissed me off... I was like "Nooo, you can't do that, you can't just end it like that"

The Mist.
I have never had such a hatred for the ending of a movie as I do with that one. I'm getting angry now just thinking about it. One of my favorite Stephen King stories though. |

I wouldn't call it "ruined" but Howard Hawk's Red River is one of the greatest western films ever made ... until it gets to the ridiculous ending. After the entire movie slowly builds to an inevitable showdown and fight to the death between John Wayne & Montgomery Clift, a woman that shows up 2/3 through the film is able to
[Show spoiler] Perhaps the worst ending ever to an otherwise truly great film.

Yeah, I've mentioned that one myself. Not because it's different from the book, but because it's so absurdly over-the-top bleak that it actually becomes unintentionally comical. It's the ultimate "doh!" moment.
