United Kingdom Bend it Like Beckham

this quirky indie from 2002 about soccer gave Keira Knightley her breakthrough role, and is coming October 4th apparently.
pre-order up at amazon.uk
have no idea what "Elevation Sales" means under "studio"

I think it means the title is imported from another country (like Amazon.com used to mark imports with "101 Distribution").

The only country that's announced Bend It Like Beckham for release is Australia,
but it's only expected there in December (according to this thread), so...

Optimum. Crap. Means it'll probably be Region B.

thanks for the info pro-b.
It appears that Amazon.uk now lists "Elevation Sales" for many Optimum blu-rays for some unknown reason.
they use that same listing for all the StudioCanal pre-orders also.

Might pick it up if released at a decent price as it was a pretty good film. Also stars the gorgeous Parminder Nagra (she later went on to star in ER)

Elevation Sales is a distribution joint venture set up by Optimum and Lionsgate UK. Hope that explains it.

Has this studio ever released a region free BD? I just want to know if I should hold onto some small hope that I'll be surprised and find out when it's released that it's not locked. With Big Daddy and Finding Nemo gone, I was so excited to see this title listed and now it looks like more bad news.

Optimum has done Region Free releases, but it was usually ones done in conjunction with Studio Canal. This is not one of those, so it is very likely it will be B locked.

To quote the classic track from The O'Jays;
"Money money money money, MONEY!"
What it generally comes down to.

I can confirm that it is Region B locked unfortunately. Which is a shame because the transfer is solid. It blows away the Region 2 DVD I've got. And all the extras from that DVD have been ported over.

If you have a region free player and are a fan, it's worthing picking up. I figure at some point there will be a US release since it does star Keira Knightley, but it could be a while.
