I hope they reprint Whisper of the Heart and The Cat Returns as well (I already have Castle In the Sky). Although this one is the most egregious of the four as people pay over $400 for it. Or rather used to.

Then again this one might only be reprinted because it's being screened as part of Ghibli Fest for the first time in a long time, so the others might not even be in consideration.

The entry for the Ghibli Fest presentation mentions that this is "Digitally Remastered and Restored", so I wonder if maybe this is a 4K version that hasn't been updated in the listing title? I do remember watching the OOP Blu-ray and it looking kind of bad (quality wise) compared to other Ghibli films.

I hope they keep the original design, I like how simple they are. But if they added a bit more detail like with The Boy and the Heron, that would look cool too.

That and Grave of the Fireflies was the only one of those that was a Sentai exclusive.

Will gladly grab the standard edition. Happy GKIDS was finally able to get the home video rights. Though I wonder if any of the dubs will be included.

The Ghibli Fest theatrical release in August does not include the English dub but the dub is on Netflix and Max

That's what I'm wondering too. I do love the Netflix dub, but I also hope the other dubs get included as well, as they're an interesting piece of the film's history.

Hell yeah, buying it! Glad I never shelled out a hundred bucks for the old Sentai blu-ray!

I only saw it for the first time when it was added to Netflix last September, sub-only at that point, so I actually haven’t watched any of the dubs.

I recommend you watch the Netflix English dub. That one actually bothered to hire a child actress to play Setsuko, which the 1998 Central Park Media dub and 2012 Sentai Filmworks dub didn't bother to do, not to mention the latter two have problems with overly literal scripts and flat acting for some characters.

Watch it not even match the old one nor all the steels around it…

It will be closer to the one for The Boy and the Heron than other Ghibli steels. But like that one, the overall design will still largely feel in line with them all on the shelf.
