Oh so they can give us Care Bears 2 but not 1, but we get Charlie's Angels 1 on 4K and not 2?

Honestly, this is tempting. I watched both movies a bunch before the age of 5 lol It does feel weird to have the 2nd and not the 1st coming before or at the same time though.

Got this on Vudu a while back and have yet to watch it. Care Bears was on that "slightly before my time" radar in that I remember it existing but can't recall any episodes or the movies.

The first film is owned by MGM, so that’d be up to them (and soon, Amazon). It has an HD version (4:3 open matte) on Vudu that looks good, fwiw.

This and Bingo give me hope for some more Sony family/kids titles that were released in full screen only during the DVD days—specifically, Elmo in Grouchland.

Loved Care Bears growing up, I never owned any of the stuffed bears but my favorite was Grumpy Bear.

I probably wore out the vhs of this in my pre-k years. I remember preferring part 2 to part 1 so I may grab this to watch with the nephews one day.

The first movie is owned by MGM and has two HD masters (one in 1.37 and the other 1.85). I think someone had/has it but are yet to release it, hopefully before MGM blocks licencing/renewals due to the impending Amazon takeover.

A New Generation was released by Columbia in the US, so that puts it at Sony. Interesting that Sony are putting this one out themselves, it was assumed to be with Mill Creek for the longest time. Mill Creek's arrangement with Sony is expiring (Sony followed up MC's Like Father Like Son with their remastered BD a few months later) so I assume they lost it and that whatever Sony they're releasing before their licence ends are repacks of titles they already put out or had for a while.

I believe Sony did a new 4k restoration on this one, as the HD master on digital/streaming is based on an older one.

First film is MGM, second is Sony, third is Echo Bridge Entertainment. There is no way all three films get released simultaneously or in close proximity, unless SHOUT Factory got all three.

Mill Creek released Bingo in its correct aspect ratio on a multi feature DVD. I can’t remember what the quality was like, but it was definitely better than the Sony full screen.

The third Care Bears movie is ether with FilmRise (who own the catalog of Canadian distributor Cineplex Odeon Films) or Nelvana themselves. It may not have any film elements as it clearly dosent have anything better than a SD VHS master to this day.

I don't think the third film was ever released on DVD here, at least not officially. Are you sure it's with Echo Bridge?

Echo Bridge and AMC Theatres bought the media assets of Cineplex Oden, with their purchase of Alliance Atlantis in 2008.

Surprising that no one licensed The Care Bears Movie from MGM.

Imagine if Blue Underground got it and said "We're gonna do this one right...." and put out a 100GB disc, with Dolby Vision and isolated music track.
