Default SyFy's "Resident Alien"

New SyFy show gets pilot order:

Quote:
‘Resident Alien’ Drama Based On Dark Horse Comics Series Gets Syfy Pilot Order

Syfy has made its first pilot order off its 2018 development slate with Resident Alien, a drama based on the Dark Horse comics series by Peter Horgan and Steve Parkhouse, from Universal Cable Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment and Amblin TV.

Resident Alien is described as a dark, twisted and comedic fish-out-of-water story. Adapted for television by Chris Sheridan (Family Guy), it follows a crash-landed alien named Harry who, after taking on the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor, slowly begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his secret mission on Earth — ultimately asking the question, “Are human beings worth saving?”

Sheridan will executive produce with Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson (The Mask) and Keith Goldberg (The Legend of Tarzan), along with Justin Falvey (The Americans) and Darryl Frank (The Americans) of Amblin TV. Universal Cable Productions is producing as part of its first-look deal with Dark Horse Entertainment to develop and produce scripted programming from publisher’s comic book library, as well as create new original material.

The pilot order follows Syfy’s recent cancellation of sci-fi drama The Expanse, currently in its third and final season, which was subsequently picked up by Amazon. Syfy recently picked up two high-profile projects to series, Deadly Class, based on the Image Comics graphic novel of the same name, and Nightflyers, a space-based thriller based on author George R.R. Martin’s novella. They join Syfy’s existing original series, Kryton, Happy!, The Magicians, Channel Zero, Killjoys, 12 Monkeys and Face Off. The network also has co-produced series and movies Wynonna Earp, Z Nation, Van Helsing and Sharknado. Syfy also is developing several major genre projects as part of its 2018 slate, including Brave New World, The Raven Cycle and Hyperion.

Cast Update: More Linda H.

Quote:
‘Resident Alien’: Linda Hamilton, Mandell Maughan To Recur On Syfy Series Based On Dark Horse Comics

EXCLUSIVE: Terminator star Linda Hamilton, Mandell Maughan(Bajillion Dollar Propertie$) and Canadian actor Alex Barima (The Exorcist) are set for recurring roles opposite Alan Tudyk in Syfy’s Resident Alien, based on the Dark Horse comics series by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse. The series hails from Universal Content Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment and Amblin TV.

Adapted for television by Chris Sheridan (Family Guy), Resident Alien follows a crash-landed alien named Harry (Tudyk) who, after taking on the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor, slowly begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his secret mission on Earth — ultimately asking the big life questions, “Are human beings worth saving?” and “Why do they fold their pizza before eating it?”

Hamilton will play General McCallister, a high-ranking general who seemingly plays by the rules and runs a tight ship but secretly oversees a covert operation looking for aliens.

Maughan will portray Lisa Casper. Even though she looks soft and innocent, she’s a high-strung badass. General McCallister (Hamilton) dispatches her to find the mysterious alien.

Barima is David Logan. Recently dismissed from the military, General McCallister also enlists David to search for the mysterious Alien.

In addition to Tudyk, they join previously announced cast Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund and Levi Fiehler.

Hamilton is best known for the role of Sarah Connor in the Terminator franchise, most recently starring in 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. Hamilton was nominated for both an Emmy and two Golden Globe awards for her work in the CW series Beauty and the Beast, and received her third Golden Globe nomination for her performance in USA Network’s A Mother’s Prayer. Hamilton is repped by Innovative Artists.

Maughan is best known for her role on the hit show Bajillion Dollar Propertie$ and the comedy Me, Myself & I starring Bobby Moynihan. Her other credits include Sean Saves The World, The Millers, House Of Lies and Undateable. Mandell is repped by Abrams Artists Agency and managed by Silver Lining Entertainment.

Canadian actor Barima’s credits include The Exorcist, Riverdale, Man In The High Castle and feature film Adventures in Public School. He is repped by Carrie Wheeler at Carrie Wheeler Entertainment Group and Adam Levine at Industry Entertainment.

Nice to see Corey Reynolds in something I might watch. I know he's been moderately busy since The Closer ended but not in much that I've seen.

It's off to a decent start, with jokes that land much more often than not. I love the small mountain town setting (memories of Everwood). In terms of characters, it's Alan Tudyk who stands head and shoulders above everyone else at this point with his endearingly quirky performance.

My GF and I both liked the first episode a lot. Alan Tudyk is just plain fun to watch. I thought the female lead was good too. The setting/scenery is big plus as well. Looking forward to seeing more.

Hilarious show and with Alan Tudyk you know it's gonna be good.

This show is sorta reminiscent to "They Live" in a comedic way where the alien(s) are friendly.

I'm not sure if this was meant to be misinterpreted, but was the intimation here that
[Show spoiler]the student nurse is Asta's daughter?

Asta's Dad mentioned
[Show spoiler]that they'd find each other
, so I would assume so.

Enjoying the show, but it reminds me of America Dad where Roger was "the decider".
