Wonder if they'll all be on a physical release.

It's only 5 GBs in total, there should be no reason to not release it on cart physically, with all 3 games on cart.

I'm not sure though who the developer is.
Crystal Dynamics is listed, which I don't like.
But Aspyr is also listed.

Of course both were aquired by Embracer, so I hope they actually do a proper job.

Best: if they fix Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness for a 2nd collection, also including Tomb Raider 4+5.

I also like the price point. 30 bucks.
HEY, *THIS* is how you do it. 3 games. 30 bucks. And it's actually not the same graphics, but you get original graphics, but also new improved graphics.
Now put that on cart that doesn't need patching, and I'm happy.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft lets long-time fans and newcomers alike step into the boots of the iconic hero in her first three adventures like never before. Experience the classic action and innovative gameplay that helped pioneer 3D gaming, spawned a beloved franchise which has sold more than 95 million copies worldwide since its debut in 1996, and made Lara Croft one of the most recognizable video game characters in the world.

Players can experience the journey their own way, with the ability to toggle on the fly between enhanced and original graphics, as well as switch between classic and modern joystick control schemes. Fans will also discover a variety of quality-of-life improvements, including camera lock-on and achievements.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft features:

Tomb Raider I + the “Unfinished Business” Expansion

In the game that started it all, adventurer Lara Croft has been hired to recover the pieces of an ancient artifact known as the Scion. Run, jump, swim and climb in fearless acrobatic style to find out the truth of its origin and powers, leaving only a trail of empty tombs and ammo in your wake. The original Tomb Raider comes complete with the “Unfinished Business” expansion, which adds four new bonus levels in two extra chapters.

Tomb Raider II + the “Gold Mask” Expansion

The award-winning second installment in the Tomb Raider series invites you to join Lara as she travels around the globe to retrieve the legendary Dagger of Xian, said to grant the powers of a fire-breathing dragon to its holder. Tomb Raider II includes the “Gold Mask” expansion, which adds five new bonus levels in a separate mini-adventure.

Tomb Raider III + “The Lost Artifact” Expansion

In Tomb Raider III, Lara follows the clues to a deadly secret in this complex adventure combining challenging puzzles with high-speed action. Boldly leap chasms and blast monsters in pursuit of a mystery that defies any earthly explanation. “The Lost Artifact” includes six new levels that continue Lara’s adventures from the original Tomb Raider III.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft is available to pre-order today for $29.99, with several opportunities for additional savings, including:
modern joystick control schemes

I don't know if you ever played Core Tomb Raider games.
The whole level design is grid based and works perfectly with the grid based controls of Tomb Raider.
There are tons of jumps that require perfect regular jumps right from the edge, or perfect long jumps. Easily done with Core controls. You also have momentum.

The controls are not "bad", "outdated" or whatever, they are accurate, but you are responsible for the inputs. If you fail, it's your fault.

See:

The Core Tomb Raider controls were created for exactly that and they work - perfectly. If you master the controls, you will make it every time, not because the game helped you out, like modern games do, where platforms are magnetic or jumps are semi-automated, or because you were lucky, but because you play the game properly. When you fall or fail, it's your fault. Always.

When you understand that, you have to wonder how you would add so called modern controls into this. These "modern" controls are BY DEFINITION inaccurate. Look at Uncharted, you are magnetic, you basically can't fail. I don't see how this would work out while keeping the exact same original level design, except maybe that the game really would play itself, or be really really forgiving (guess where you want to jump to, and add additional distance so that you make it, even if you jumped too early, or when your angle is slightly off), but I say what's the point of that?

Just look at the "modern" controls in the new Resident Evil Remake.
Do you think that's good? These controls literally destroy the game. You can do all sorts of things that the original designers did not want. It's basically cheating. Enemies are designed around the original controls. When you allow instant direction changes, you break the game. The enemies are still using the same ways of attacks, but you are now overpowered, which in turn makes it trivial to evade enemies. It's like modifying Resident Evil 4 and adding movement while shooting to it. You can do that, but that would also destroy the game.

But at least in Resident Evil Remake, they actually kept the original controls. In this here it's even more severe because the level design relies so much on exactly these controls, and I wouldn't even surprised if they changed level design because of that, and if they did, I would be 100% against it. In any case calling this faithful sounds really weird.

Instead of this bs, I would rather get additional level packs. They could throw some of the fan made levels into the mix. There are so many fantastic ones. Think Doom or Doom 2, where you can download new levels.

To the poster above…why do you care so much. You can use the old controls. If people want to use modern controls, let them. What’s the problem?

Ok, but it is optional. The original controls are included and clearly that is what you will use, so why the drama over another option? There was nothing in the messaging calling the original controls "bad" or "outdated" so I'm not even sure why you threw that in there.

You ask "what's the point of" modern controls, they are likely for players who didn't grow up playing TR and therefore are not accustomed to the original style. The way you describe modern controls sounds like an easy mode, games have difficulty adjustments for a reason but you don't have to take advantage of them. If a different control scheme is what it takes to expand the audience, how is that a bad thing? Couldn't better sales lead to remasters of the rest of the Core TR series?

Also, Crystal Dynamics (or Aspyr) probably do not have rights to fan made levels, but I'm sure there will be a way to make them work on PC so there's another option.

Btw, I have not played any of the RE remakes, I never finished the originals because...I hated the controls! I hope the REmakes all have better controls than the stupid "tank" controls of the first few games. I don't think it was changed until RE4, by then I lost interest. I don't remember having any issues w/ TR, but I only played (and completed) the first one on Saturn.

I'd smash an extravagant tat-laden super-deluxe Limited Run release. Even if it cost an arm and a leg and took 57 years to manufacture.

Re: the controls, I couldn't care less if they wanna include an optional joystick control scheme. Options are good. I feel like most people will wanna stick with the D-pad anyway. I tried TR3 once with the analogue stick and it was just awkward.

I sure wish this triple game pack would be available for PC or PS4 since I don't have a Nintendo Switch. I don't think it's wise for me to spend money on another console I would use for a few games, when I barely play games as is at the age of 41. I just don't play modern games and I don't play video games the way I did back in my childhood in the 1980s - 2010s.

So if I do play these Tomb Raider remaster games, I hope it'll be available to something I already have and I am upgrading from a 10-year-old Windows 7 PC to a Windows 11 by building my own PC. I just sure hope Windows 11 is better than the Windows 7 Pro I've been using for the past 10 years.

This looks horrible, sorry. Leave Tomb Raider as it was, not like some 15 year old starting out with Blender assets.

Aspyr On Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Physical Release: "We Have Not Made Any Announcements"

sigh
Let me guess
First wait so that people buy it digitally
Then some overpriced LRG release, that I will probably get because I suck
Then some regular retail release

Trophy lists (spoilers)

TR1:
https://insider-gaming.com/tomb-raid...d-trophy-list/
TR2:
https://insider-gaming.com/tomb-raid...d-trophy-list/
TR3:

Actually challenging and interesting. Most trophy lists in other games suck.
