It was revealed during Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct that Elden Ring will be receiving a port for the upcoming Switch 2. Elden Ring was released across most platforms in 2022, selling nearly 30 million copies worldwide, and has an extensive community of loyal fans dedicated to the franchise. All of this eluded loyal Nintendo Switch fans until this most recent announcement of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition which is coming directly to the next-gen Nintendo console.

This is one ht those key card BS games. That being said, it's probably one of the very few key card games I buy. Wanted to play this for a long time, but never owned any other platform to play it in.

An internet connection is only required when you launch the game for the first time. After this, the game can be started even without an internet connection. However, like regular physical software, the game-key card must be inserted into the console in order to play the game.

If you insert a game-key card into another Nintendo Switch 2, the game can also be played on that console by following the above steps.

But beware that the key card doesn't store a damn thing. All it does is unlock the ability to download it to your console from the Nintendo store. If the game is 60+ GB in size (which I'm sure Elden Ring will be, there goes 25%+ of your entire Switch 2 storage capacity (only 256 GB).
