Quote:
Prepare to take off on a nonstop, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with four suspense-filled adventures in Airport: The Complete Collection. The quest begins with the original Airport, nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture, which launched the popular 1970s disaster film genre and became a box office smash. In Airport 1975, a mid-air collision leaves a 747 without a pilot and little hope for survival. The tension continues in Airport ‘77 when a 747 is trapped underwater in the Bermuda Triangle and it’s a race against time to save the passengers and crew. In The Concorde: Airport ‘79, at twice the speed of sound, the Concorde must evade a vicious attack by a traitorous arms smuggler. Featuring steal ensemble casts that includes Charlton Heston, Burt Lancaster, James Stewart, Jack Lemmon, Lee Grant, Jacqueline Bisset, Dean Martin, George Kennedy and many more, Airport: The Complete Collection will leave you on edge from takeoff to dramatic landing.

Sweet! I've already got Airport, so there will be some minor redundancy in my collection, but that's okay. I'm still all over this.

I've had both Airport 75 and 77 sitting in my Amazon cart for months debating whether I should pull the trigger; thanks for posting this info and for the savings. Strange that your post should happen at the same time that airport events are happening in Belgium!

I got excited when I saw the thread but backtracked a bit when I saw Universal themselves are doing it, which means no extras and bland cover art. Still happy to finally have these on Blu-ray

I imported Airport 75 and don't regret it one bit. Though I am happy I held off on 79 (wasn't going to bother with 77 as I didn't like it enough).

...but it's so awful, it's jaw-dropping in a "what the hell where they thinking?" way. It had the highest budget of all the Airport films and is the cheapest looking by far. Where ever the money went, it wasn't into the film. It also has the most underpowered cast. With clothes on Sylvia Kristel was probably the worst actress of her time. Some of the dialogue is surreally bad, especially George Kennedy's "salty talk". At times '79 is almost as funny as Airplane!, just not intentionally so.

Airport '75 is a bad film as well, but it has some camp value and unlike '79 it's at least made with a degree of competence.

I think Airport '77 is the only one of the sequels which is actually a decent film and it has the most interesting cast. The original still holds up very well of course and is a genuinely good movie, even if for most of its length its more of a hostage drama than a disaster film.

Doesn't matter though, I do enjoy them all.

"Airport 79" is an unusual film. I mean Alain Delon as a pilot and Robert Wagner as the villain.

With its European leads, Paris setting and low rent look it always looked more like a Euro cash-in than one of the official Airport films, but the cash-in was The Concorde Affair. On the French Blu-ray the film looks very ropey (blurry, grainy and it wasn't even shot in 2.35:1) and I doubt it will look much better for this box set. The other two sequels look great.

While I love the cheesy feel of some of the Airport movies...nothing tops the first, so I will stick with what I already have...

I very much doubt it. The film is not high profile enough the get some bells and whistles special edition.

one thing that's always fun about these movies are the cast.... you've got everything from Linda Blair to Christopher Lee!

I don't recall an extended cut of Airport '77, but the extended cut of Airport '79 is dramatically different and changes how Harrison offs himself. Really wish they would issue the extended version.
