Default The Cars That Ate Paris (1974) Peter Weir

This movie deserves its own thread, especially with the recent 4K digital restoration of the film by the National Film and Sound Archive, which is currently in select theaters in Australia. (They have also announced they are doing a 4K restoration of Gallipoli):

I've always loved how the film opens like a typical 70's TV commercial, only to take a deliciously dark turn. Supposedly, it was the film that inspired George Miller that he should go off and make his own film based on his experiences as a doctor, called Mad Max.

So without further ado, here is the latest 4K trailer and poster to generate more discussion about this underrated film:

Here are some photos of my Japanese Blu-ray Edition of The Cars That Ate Paris and screen shots taken with the iPhone (the actual image quality is much better in person). Removable subs and comes with a Trailer as an extra. Pix below:

Hmmmmmmm I wonder if this title is going to be coming at some point from Indicator's Ozploitation classics line it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Indicator has plans to put this out. I have a strong feeling this title is on that labels radar, and I'll be pre-ordering it immediately. I greatly hope this is a big Peter Weir year as I hope that means the Year of Living Dangerously is coming at some point this year too. Along with The Mosquito Coast as well

Weir didn’t futz with the color grade of this like he did with Picnic, did he?

Would love to see a proper standalone UHD release of this, as well as The Plumber.
