Irish actor Jack Hudson is set to star in a feature adaptation of Matthew Dickens’s comic The Devil’s Train about a Hollywood stuntman leading a double life as a time-travelling cowboy cyborg.
The feature will be directed by stuntman and Fast & Furious action director Jack Gill with MCU stunt veteran Chris Brewster, whose recent credits include Captain America: Brave New World.
The Devil’s Train is adapted from an original story by Dickens based on his unpublished novel, which he turned into a comic book series released by L.A. based publisher Bliss On Tap.
Hudson will play a time-traveling, demon-possessed cyborg, called Blondie in a nod to one of the nicknames of Clint Eastwood’s Man With No Name character in Sergio Leone’s Dollars trilogy.
The movie revolves around Blondie’s mission to rob the treasure-laden Devil’s Train as it passes through Death Valley.
As he moves from carriage to carriage looking for clues on how to break into the treasure vault, he travels back and forth through time, touching down in iconic cinematic backdrops such as John Wayne’s Quiet Man bridge in Ireland and the Scottish castle Eilean Dolan from Highlander.
The film’s soundtrack by three-time Grammy winner Andrew Coleman has already released its first single titled The Emmaus Effect.
“I believe Jack Hudson has the classical training and rare physical skills to bring the madcap antics of Blondie to life in a dazzling display that will rival the other young guns on the scene,” said Dickens.
“Pairing Jack Hudson with directors Chris Brewster and Jack Gill, an MCU veteran and an action director trained and mentored by the greatest stuntman director of all time Hal Needham, is a formula for old school ‘badassery’. We are going to beat the hell out of Jack and make him look awesome in the process.”
Matthias Hues (Borrowed Time III, Operation Thule) has also joined the cast in the role of the Devil.
Dickens is producing under the banner of Cliffhanger Cowboys, the company he runs with Gill, with John H. Radulovic (Ray Donovan). The movie is due to start shooting in January 2026 for a 2027 release.
