A24 Films (via Lionsgate) will be releasing the Australian horror film Talk to Me on 4K UHD tentatively on October 17th. I saw this one in theaters last week, and thought it was great. In addition to the regular 4K, there will be an Amazon Exclusive version that comes with a lenticular slipcover, as well as a bonus Blu-ray with the following "Talk to Me Q&A with Filmmakers Danny & Michael Philippou"

Here’s a 4K pre-order Amazon with a different cover. I’m not sure if it’s an Amazon exclusive or not.

Could they possibly be releasing this, right out the gate, in a slip with alternate artwork? ‘Cause that would be lovely.

It's not terrible artwork, but I'm glad I preordered the UK steelbook.

Would love to know how Lionsgate decides which A24 films get a 4K and which don't because I definitely wasn't expecting this. Loved this movie and I'm excited to pick it up!

I think this was the second biggest A24 opening behind Hereditary. So no big surprise to see a 4K here.

I hope it includes the prequel film!

Well... Lionsgate doesn't really get to decide. It's all based on theatrical box office and projected domestic gross. A24 won't ALLOW LG to release a title in 4K unless it hits a certain theatrical threshold. That's certainly been the formula for the past few years. They can certainly go back to A24 and suggest revisits based on strong sales numbers (Moonlight and Ex Machine are two good examples), but while Lionsgate essentially does all the work, A24 essentially calls all the shots.

guess this means i can kiss a stateside 4K release of Beau Is Afraid goodbye (unless A24 sees it a wise financial investment to release it themselves on their website)

I'd say it's very likely we'll see a store exclusive for it in the future.

According to the links on this site, the one you like will be the standard release and the art with her holding the hand will be the Amazon exclusive.

Umbrella in Australia is the label to watch btw. I think they financed it? could be wrong.
