We're getting Quiz Show in less than two week's time. A great film from Robert Redford and it looks like we're the first place to get it in the world on Blu-ray.

I'm a bit concerned about Disney's track record on catalogues of late. For every Rocketeer/Arachnophobia (after the fault of course) quality release there have been a bunch of Good Morning Vietnam/Color of Money/Grosse Point Blank-type releases where picture quality has been average at best.

I hope the film gets the treatment it deserves.

Nice fine detail, healthy fine grain structure and no signs of any significant noise reduction or edge enhancement (a little bit around the tree branches in screenshot 4). Can't wait to check it out!

Really love this movie and would love to have this blu. Unfortunately, international shipping prices have gone up recently and would make this really pricey to acquire for those in the US. Looks like a very nice release.

Cost me a small fortune...but had to import this. One of the remaining 3 DVD's that I hadn't converted to Blu and an absolutely brilliant film.

JB Hi-Fi ship internationally. Yes, our national postage carrier rates have gone through the roof but JB's shipping is VERY good in comparison. JB ship a single Blu-ray to the US for $8.10 meaning it'd set you back under US$24 for that title (just add it to cart and then at checkout select the US - you don't need to sign up to try this out). It's only $1.10 for a second title so if you're after something exclusive from Australia then it'd be a good time to buy it also and split the shipping costs - e.g. if you got another $15.98 title it'd be AU$41.26 (about US$43) for both delivered.

I watched this tonight and Disney has done a great job. It appears that after a few dodgy disc fiascos they have sorted things out and nailed titles like Arachnophobia, Dick Tracy and Quiz Show.

Excellent detail levels, a slightly muted colour palette, nice fine grain throughout and no overt signs of tampering by way of DNR or edge enhancement. Audio was strong also - clear prioritised dialogue, score/music sat well and some subtle surround work was on show though it was fairly limited due to the nature of the film.

If you're a fan of the film or of the style it's definitely one to buy - the lack of substantial special features is a bit disappointing but I'd take a strong transfer and audio track over special features any day.

Are there any Buena Vista precedents for an Australian release preceding a U.S. release of that same title? I'm trying to suss whether this Aussie release might mean Quiz will soon finally hit BD in the States.

There have been some decent live action films released here within the last 8 months from Buena Vista that don't appear to be on the Horizon for the U.S on top of Quiz Show though, such as Turner and Hooch, Splash, and Keeping the Faith. I regularly receive PM questions from U.S member about all of these.
