In the last issue of French magazine Les Inrockuptibles, David Cronenberg confirms that he'll shoot a new feature film in march of 2023.

For some reason, perhaps just being a huge fan of both, I have always wanted to see Harvey Keitel in a Cronenberg film. Granted, it would have been cooler had it happened in the 80s or 90s, but I'd still love to see it happen. Anyway, just wishful thinking.

What a fantastic time to be a Cronenberg fan! Hopefully this Cronenbergaissance will result in some juicy 4K releases of his older movies too.

"Crimes of the Future" is a script he wrote over 20 years ago, that never got made, so he came back to it.

This new one is apparently a reworking of a project Netflix wound up passing on a couple of years ago.

"David Cronenberg has announced his next feature THE SHROUDS—set to begin production next March and star Vincent Cassel as “Karsh, an innovative businessman and grieving widower, who builds a novel device to connect with the dead inside a burial shroud."

The film will be partly autobiographical.

“The new film I’ll be making is called The Shrouds and it stars Vincent Cassel and Lea Seydoux. Despite that, it’s not a French film,” he said. “It’s a very personal project for me. People who know me will know parts of it are autobiographical. The idea is to shoot that in the Spring in Toronto.”
