Paramount will be continuing their Paramount Scares collection this October! And there won't be any mystery title gimmick this time. The films will come with exclusive slipcovers, an exclusive issue of Fangoria Magazine, a collectible poster, 4 iron-on patches, a domed sticker, and a glow-in-the-dark enamel pin.

Volume Two will include the following films:

Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
Breakdown (1997)
World War Z (2013)
Orphan: First Kill (2022)

Paramount Scares: Volume 2 4K Blu-ray

Quote:
Paramount Scares resurrects four spine-chilling terrors in 4K Ultra-HD, for this limited-edition second collection of scream greats, including Jason’s bloody return in FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 (1981), the backroad terror of BREAKDOWN (1997), the action-packed zombie pandemic WORLD WAR Z (2013), and Esther’s twisted original evil deeds in ORPHAN: FIRST KILL (2022). This highly collectible box contains each movie in separate amaray cases, with exclusive slipcovers. Also available only in this set—four unique iron-on patches, a glow-in-the-dark enamel pin, a domed logo sticker, and a poster designed by Orlando Arocena. Take a deeper dive into all four films with a curated FANGORIA issue, with articles from their vault and new content. Digital copies of all four movies are also included, to keep the creepy close at hand!

Pre-order is just $69.99 right now, which seems quite low for this, so best to lock that in, in case it's a mistake.

Wow, now this is a weaker set than the first. Though, ballsy of them to put "Friday the 13th, Part 2" in it. Which is what most people will be going for, outsides of "World War Z."

Both Breakdown and Friday the 13th Part 2 should have gotten solo releases in my opinion. World War Z is an odd inclusion, since SF already released it on 4K. I don't think the Director's Cut exists in 4K, so this will probably be the theatrical again. Like last year's set, Sweeney Todd did come out a year later (releasing September 3rd), so we'll probably see solo releases of these next year too.

Skipped volume 1, this set looks great. Don’t know about Orphan but the other 3 are great.

Also World War Z already has a 4K release from Scream Factory. So why is Paramount re-releasing these movies on 4K by themselves? There's no reason to. Also looks like Friday the 13th Part 2 might get a 4K release in the UK, but not the rest.

These jerked-off cash-grab phony mixed-bag “collector sets” from the major studios forcing you to buy multiple films you don’t want, released decades apart, that aren’t even in the same genre, as well as films that you’ve already bought and paid for, just to get one or two highly desirable new releases on the format, make me want to vomit. Despicable. It’s a real fist in the dirt box. I hate seeing Paramount go this vile route. It’s not “odd” or “strange” or “bad judgment” in the selection of the contents, folks. It’s just a flat-out scummy, sleazy (and very typical) corporate wallet-raiding business tactic. It’s not even that any of the titles here are so bad, it’s the principle of the whole thing, and the why behind it, that’s most repugnant and distasteful.

Paramount, maybe try serving up a few half-decent encodes, and OG audio, instead of wasting hundreds of man-hours and thousands of dollars on trashy art, garbage stickers and silly pins, on a pile of totally unrelated films?

The real “collector set” here would’ve been a Friday the 13th 1-4 4k uhd box set release. They know that damned well….and deliberately didn’t do it. Because they fully intend to drag that franchise out for years on end on 4k, tucked into rubbish rando releases like this, and do this to buyers over and over each year. Transparent and shameful.

While I'm not nearly as bitter and twisted as you about the whole boxset wheeze it's more the fact that I've already got WWZ and couldn't give less of a shit about the other two films if I tried. I just wants Breakdown. At least in those Sony sets there's some proper film history to be had AND I know that the transfers will be good, the compression excellent and some form of OG audio will be there too. With Paramount movies, eh.

To be fair... Only World War Z has been released in 4K previously.

I just think it's a stupid package for a couple reasons.

First, they should just do a 4K set of the Friday the 13th films. (If only 1-4, so be it, not sure they have 4K masters for 5-8 or the rest... of course Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy vs Jason are New Line / Warner titles.)

Second, Breakdown should have been released individually, just as all other missed 4K Paramount Presents titles have. (Also, it honestly isn't a horror film.)

Had the same thought re: Breakdown, I'd never in a million years class it as a horror film so they're realllllllllly taking the piss with this one.

Their Paramount Scares line seems to be including Sci-Fi and thrillers now too.

The following are also under their Paramount Scares banner (via social media, or their 4K release itself):

Double Jeopardy (4K standard edition has a Scares logo now)
The Parallax View
Zodiac
Twisted (2004)
The Core
The Running Man
Fire in the Sky

I agree with you though, it's weird to see a film like Breakdown included here. Even if they consider it a "Scares" title, there are plenty of other horror films in their library that would fit better with this kind of collection.

These sets are tiresome. I'll wait for a solo of F13th Part 2 or just settle on the Blu-ray. Unless it gets a drastic drop. The previous set all were available as solos eventually so I'm holding out hope.

What's my man Kurt Russell doing trapped in this set?! Breakdown should definitely be a stand-alone release.

Yep, standard cases with exclusive slips
