Alex Steele was Angela Jeremiah on "Degrassi: TNG" Seasons 1-5 when she was small.

She came back in Seasons 11-12 as new character Tori.

Jeffery Combs played a number of different characters on DS9.

William Shatner was on The Twilight Zone a few times playing different roles each time. There were quite a few other actors like that.

Michelle Forbes was a semi regular on TNG from a Season 5 as Ensign Ro but her first appearance on the show was in a season 4 episode playing a different character.


Still on Star Trek, Mark Leonard played a Romulan in Balance of Terror and later came back as Sarek.

James Cromwell played a character in TNG season 3 episode The Hunted and late played Zefram Cochrane in First Contact.

Carolyn Seymour played two different Romulan commanders on TNG (Contagion and Face of the Enemy)

Robert OReilly in episode Manhunt of TNG season 2 episode before returning as Gowron later on in the series.

There are stars that played two different characters between the shows Buffy and Angel which take place in the same universe. Off the top of my head, Kal Penn Jonathan Woodward, and Andy Umberger.
Also, Kali Rocha played Cecily and Halfrek on Buffy. Rumor is they are actually the same character but some things don’t quite add up for that.

1) In Law and Order SVU- Ned Luke (most famous for playing Michael in Grand Theft Auto V) played 3 roles- from ‘02-‘13. He played Mr. Thurber, Roger Swanson, and Mr Wilmont. Also in ‘05 he played in Law and Order as Ken Cosgrove.
Diane Neal- ADA Casey Novak and early in the series she played a criminal Amelia Chase for an episode.
Sharon Epatha Merkerson- Law and Order- victim/witness in an episode then Lt. Van Buren for a large role

2) Deadwood- Garrett Dillahunt- Jack McCall (season 1) and Francis Wolcott (season 2) both rather large rolls and back to back seasons.

Twilight Zone- so many actors played different characters, but the episodes aren’t connected really.

Before becoming Mr. Gorpley on Perfect Strangers, actor Sam Anderson played the guy that Larry and Balki approach at the bank when opening an account for Balki takes place in the very first season of the show. Before becoming Ms. Lydia on that show, actress Belita Moreno was another lady character named Mrs. Twinkacetti during the first season. Actor Bronson Pinchot who gave us Balki from that show also played Balki's mother and his cousin named Bartok.

Soap operas are notorious for this. Actor leaves, role gets recast or character is killed off, actor returns in a different role.
