Default Codename Sailor V

I can't understand why this doesn't have anime. I mean its a prequel to Sailor Moon. Was it always planned to be short series to become bigger when Luna finds Usagi? Also is Mina one of the least favorite or what? I like the most Sailor Saturn/Hotaru Tomoe and wish they dis something more with her but of course it probably work.

I have started volume 2. What are anybody's thoughts on it?

It's not a prequel, Sailor V came first and Toei actually wanted to do an anime but Naoko Takeuchi thought the story was too simplistic and didn't offer enough possibilities for an adaptation and developed Sailor Moon with a larger cast of characters.
The original plan was to abandon Sailor V and reboot it as Sailor Moon with Minako being the title character, pretty late in development Takeuchi decided to keep Sailor V and integrate the series into Sailor Moon as is.

You can still see remnants of this in the finished product, the reason Usagi and Minako have very similar personalities is because Usagi is basically Minako with a new hairstyle and her cat painted black.
This is also the reason Ami and Gurio Umino look like Hikaru and Gurikazu Amano from Sailor V (in the letters case even the name is very similar).

The Sailor V manga while starting before Sailor Moon ultimately ran concurrently with Sailor Moon getting the occasional chapter ending after Sailor Moon finished its run.

An anime adaptation was again considered in the early 2000s but it obviously didn't happen.

Edit: I just realized I responded to an 8 year old thread.
