‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery’s Sci-Fi Comedy ‘Cold Storage’ Lands at Samuel Goldwyn Films, First Look Unveiled

Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired North American rights to Studiocanal‘s sci-fi comedy “Cold Storage.” The filmmakers have unveiled a first look.

The film toplines “Stranger Things” breakout Joe Keery alongside “Barbarian” standout Georgina Campbell and “Smile” star Sosie Bacon. The cast also includes screen veterans Vanessa Redgrave (“Mission: Impossible”), Lesley Manville (“Phantom Thread”) and Liam Neeson (“Taken”).

Jonny Campbell, whose credits include “Dracula,” directs from a screenplay by Hollywood veteran David Koepp, adapting from his own novel. Koepp’s scripting resume includes blockbusters “Jurassic Park,” “Mission: Impossible” and more recently, “Presence.” Gavin Polone, known for “Zombieland” and “Panic Room,” produces alongside Koepp.

The film follows Teacake (Keery) and Naomi (Campbell), two employees at a self-storage facility built atop a former military base, whose night shift transforms into a nightmare when a government-sealed parasitic fungus escapes from the underground levels. As temperatures rise, the microorganism unleashes its brain-controlling, body-bursting mayhem on anything in its path. The duo must join forces with a weathered bioterror operative (Neeson) to contain the threat before it triggers humanity’s extinction.

Samuel Goldwyn Films plans a nationwide theatrical release later this year.
