Default Screen tearing is driving me crazy!

I don't know if it's my tv or what but I just played through heavenly sword and the screen tearing was horrendous. Worse than assasins creed. I hope that Final Fantasy XIII isnt like this. I'm wondering if it's mt t.v.

I have a sharp AQUOS 42 inch 1080p

it's common in ps3 games, something to do with the engines. But I see so much of it, I'm starting to wonder if the t.v. makes a difference at all.

So common that I've never seen it on any of my games nor have I ever heard of anyone else having that experience.

I know it exists. I've heard the phrase. It is real. I don't know what it looks like, and it hasn't hindered my gaming experience. Maybe because I don't know what it looks like is the reason it doesn't bother me. I don't know.

My research is hands on and I've never had a single issue with the 20+ ps3 games I've played so I guess my head is out of my ass and I've done my research.

I saw a little (very little) of it in Uncharted, but have not seen it in any other games. It's usually in the Jungle scenes when the camera is turning quickly.

kormaniac i was just asking if different types of t.v's effect the screen tearing, and you had to go and feel like a big person by taking a rip at me. I'm so sick of people getting flamed on message boards in general everywhere. Isn't the whole point of these things for mature discussion of topics. If it makes you feel more important for ragging on somebody than that's your deal. But whether you want to beleive it or not it's there, even if you don't know what it is you are looking at!

If it's so prevelant to you, I would guess it is your TV. I have seen almost no tearing and I have an older 768p Sony rear projection LCD TV. I own 12 games including Heavenly Sword and Unchartered.

see i thought there was quite a bit in uncharted, again that's why I'm wondering if my t.v. is helping it out? I've heard sharps are bad for that. The thing that gets me is that it's only on games it happens not on blu rays or hd tv.

Sharps are known for their "banding " issues, maybe thats attributing to it?

It's just the game, unfortunately. When a game has framerate issues, often times screen tearing becomes a problem (since the game is probably not running with vsync on). What you have to understand though, is that it's not only a PS3 problem. If you played any of the earlier 360 games (Perfect Dark 0 being a prime example) you'd have experienced the same issue. As devs get more familiar with the PS3 and start producing games with solid framerates, the screen tearing issue should disappear completely. Take a look at Devil May Cry 4 - that game runs at a constant 60fps, and I've never noticed screen tearing on it.

WTH is tearing? I hear it referred to quite a bit, yet I have no idea what it is. BTW I own Uncharted and Heavenly Sword and have never noticed a problem, not that Im saying its not there.

I know I was very unhappy with my 52" D92 Sharp LCD... to the point that I returned it for my Panny plasma.
