Gleaming the Cube (1989) - Blu-ray Forum

I've wanted to see the late '80's skateboard action flick Gleaming the Cube for years, but for whatever reason never have. Though I've never been a skateboarder, I did grow up in the '80's & am sure I would enjoy the film, if only for nostalgic reasons.

Unfortunately, the DVD is OOP & extremely expensive. So, it's about time this was released on Blu.

Anyone else a fan of this film?

Bringing back the memories op! Yes I would to see this get the bd treatment. I was a skater throughout the 80's and 90's so I appreciate Rodney Mullens skate board work in this film!

Sold it years and years ago, back when FYE was Coconuts.

I tried to watch GTC on an old print a while back, and it was so sub-par (horrible picture & audio) that I couldn't continue.

Here's hoping for at least a DVD-R release for this film (if they're still making these). Some DVD-R's look fairly good...

I wasn't a trickster on my skateboard, but I do recall really enjoying the movie at the time.

I just noticed if you have Amazon Prime, its available to stream for free! I would like to have a real blu ray copy though, lets hold out hope. That would be fantastic.

Fun film and era. It's a shame both this and RAD aren't on blu.

I actually have the DVD files on my Laptop. I can copy them to a flash drive and get them to you.
I don't know if I can email them or not. Never tried. You will need to download the Video Lan player to play them on your PC/Laptop. I am not sure if you could BURN this to a DVD or not.

I have the Video Files. Unfortunately, it is in the ONLY version available which is the DVD version or the P&S version. No widescreen is avaiable for this title.

"Thrashin" is already available on Blu Ray.
"RAD" is coming to 4K believe it or not with a Blu Ray included on May 22, 2020.

"Gleaming the Cube" definitely deserves a Blu Ray as does "Pump up the Volume" and several other classic films from my younger days.

What in the Wide World of Sports is keeping back a release of Gleaming The Cube?

It's about time for a proper releases of this thing. On Blu-ray. Maybe 4K. Rad! got released this way - time for Gleaming The Cube to get its due (and Pump Up The Volume, while we're at it).

Anyone have any idea why it's been held up so long?

~ owner has no interest in relasing
~ owner is asking for too much money

Well, looks like Pump Up The Volume at least is getting a Warners Archive Blu-ray release. Still nothing on Gleaming The Cube, though.

Just glad more of Christian Slater's earlier stuff coming to Blu-Ray, Gleaming the Cube is the last film of his I want in a widescreen HD format, I own everything else that I enjoyed.

I'm starting to have high hopes for this coming to bluray, since Pump Up the Volume. Rad and Gleaming were two remaining titles that I was desperate to get in HD. We're one step closer....

Man I loved this flick as a kid! Tony Hawk working at Pizza Hut...lol
