These are the R-rated versions. I definitely would’ve bought unrated 4K steels.

The release date still states October, but the shipping estimates are late February/early March. Curious if these are getting delayed. We did get the (now deleted) post these will include the unrated cuts on the BD disc but with new encodes due to fan demand, while the 4K will be the theatrical only remastered. February makes me wonder if they might be going even further to make these properly definitive with more options, alternate cuts via branching, that sort of thing.

To me, Part IV is one of the worst films in the series. I got 1 and 2, debating 3, it's solid but not great.

You know what’s funny? I first ordered Saw IV and it said arriving late February. I canceled it and then re-ordered it and now it says arriving late September. Amazon’s system is just screwed up probably. I’m sure it’ll update for the proper release date of October 21st eventually once this the revisions are all sorted out by the studio.

The 4th movie seems like an odd place to stop.

I was expecting to see announcement threads popping up until we were current.

My guess is they didn’t want to release all of them at once because maybe people wouldn’t buy them all. We’ll probably get the rest next year at some point.

What makes you think they'll stop there? Everything needs to be paced for individual releases.

Amazon probably holding out for the eventual, full series (steelbook) set. Nightmare on elm street set comes to mind.

They don't make money caring about if people can afford to buy products or not.

They only care that people buy.

As someone that works in this industry, part of caring that people buy is not saturating the market all at once when you have 10+ films in a series. We know that people only have so much disposable income per month.

You realize in the year 2025 barely anyone collects physical media. This is the reason why most brick and mortar stores don’t carry physical media anymore. It’s not crazy to think companies aren’t willing to make thousands and thousands of copies of movies anymore or willing to sell every movie in a franchise individually on the same day, because the small percentage of people that do still buy movies physically probably can’t afford to buy all 10 movies on the same day when they’re $35 each.

Luckily, without the unrated cuts, some fans (like myself) will go from buying the 6 more steelbooks they need to complete the franchise in steelbook form, to 0, saving hundreds of dollars in the process!
