Default Bryan Singer Is Back With Secret Film Starring Jon Voight

Quote:
After eight years in exile, director Bryan Singer is mounting a comeback.

The “Superman Returns” helmer, who hasn’t worked in mainstream Hollywood since famously being fired from “Bohemian Rhapsody” in 2017, has quietly directed a film that stars Oscar winner Jon Voight.

Singer shot the new film, described as a period drama that revolves around the relationship between a father and son, in Greece in 2023. Variety understands that Israeli filmmaker Yariv Horovoitz (“Rock the Kasbah”) is involved in the project.

One source who has seen the final cut but is not involved with the production describes it as “a really well made film with awards-season potential” but predicts that “it’s going to be a huge hotbed of controversy” due to the subject matter. The source describes the story as set in the Middle East in the late ’70s or early ’80s at a time when Israel occupied Lebanon. “It makes Israel look really bad and could be polarizing,” the source adds. Another source familiar with the project says the story follows an architect looking for redemption. [source]

Love his work, let the malding commence. A real shame we got that awful Dark Phoenix film without him, I thought Apocalypse was hype.

Same. The finale was dope. Ottman's score slays.

Singer is a solid filmmaker. News of his comeback doesn't upset me, though it's understandable that many feel differently given the allegations against him. (And at least the movie is not Israeli propaganda, which is surprising.)

I like Singer's work enough to watch this. I'm not going to support a pedophile so I'll pirate it.

His personal stuff aside, I've always felt he was a hack who got very lucky with the people he kept around him. I'll definitely watch this out of curiosity though.

Not to mention the stories of him throwing a fit and leaving set or not even showing up sometimes. I wonder how much credit for directing Newton Thomas Sigel is owed.

Although he was never charged, probably because the accusers are full of it and were just looking for a paycheck.

What about all the stories about his creepy behavior from people who didn't try to get money? His tendencies to groom or SA underage boys is well known. One of many instances in which Hollywood execs/stars turned a blind eye because the cashflow was nice. You should maybe just not pitch in on things you don't know about, especially when you're allowing your lack of knowledge to put you in a position of defending a pedophile.

I respect Singer for his original work in starting the X-Men franchise, but I don't think he valued Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's broader intent very much. I saw "Apt Pupil" once though, and it was good but very unsettling. "Superman Returns" pretty much sucks, and I blame him for the bulk of that. As for propaganda, I don't care who it's about, what part of the world, or when - just tell the objective historical truth to the best of your ability. Anyone who can't do that is a coward who has no business directing such material.

I don't consider gossip sites gospel. Seeing how people come out of the wood work in an attention seeking sense with exaggerations of peoples behavior after the fact.

There it is! and you are well-versed? I read the salacious article that was posted about him. It reeked of tabloid sensationalism. And you're still mis-using the word "pedophile", but I see you're set in your ways.

I do know they they tried to extract money from him in exchange for them not going to The Atlantic. Nothing sus about that!

People coming out of the woodwork with nothing:
https://variety.com/2021/film/news/b...an-1235136986/

and the best they can conjur up is "he yelled at me one time because me and my friends were partying and prevented him from sleeping, even though he took real good care of me $" Instant ptsd!@

Like I said, you lack knowledge on this topic. Some of your comments above also show a general lack understanding of how trauma/SA can effect a young person, especially with you thinking that these things coming up "after the fact" is evidence of anything whatsoever. That being said, I'm not going to try to change your mind here though. If you want to align yourself with him, go for it. I'll stay happily on this side of the debate.

Thanks for the "sources" I requested btw.
On another note, I'm surprised Jon Voight is still alive.

FYI, I've been the target at my workplace from multiple co-workers at my job (not many, around 6 out of 250 people on staff) who lied about my behavior in order to get me disciplined. Thankfully, we have alot of camera's where I work so their case fell apart. And no, it wasn't sexual accusations. I was targeted primarily because I keep to myself (not very chatty), so it makes it easier for them to make up stuff.
The point is, I can easily see a handful of people getting their "stories straight" and going after someone for money.

Just curious, but why? He's 86, and he doesn't currently have any serious health problems.

He's also good friends with Brian Peck (The Return of the Living Dead). Pretty much tells you everything you need to know.

No, they’re out to get him because he’s “not very chatty”. I’m out to get Harrison Ford for that very same reason
