Excited for the story. I just hope and pray the delivery mechanic is a lot more optional and/or less tedious.

I agree, I hope they remove some of the limitations that made the traversing not fun

the worst was when you run out of "bandwidth" while building a network of ziplines

I think with 'Death Stranding 2' actually just being a working title, and Geoff consciously just referring to it as 'DS2', makes me think this will be a drastically different game from the first one.

Also looks like Yoji Shinkawa is cutting loose on the art direction. That aircraft vehicle, the bike, and the new design for Higgs look absolutely mental!

And even though we probably won't see actual gameplay for a while -- this trailer alone seems to indicate a much more action driven narrative this time around. Which I'm sure will make a lot of people happy.

Recently played the first and i could see where the original was probably not liked for the mechanics of making deliveries tedious, bandwidth restrictions etc. however the strengths i personally feel were the performances of the actors/actresses for the most part. Norman Reedus was a bit wooden for me, but that's just the stoic character they chose i guess. Loved Lea Seydoux as Fragile and Margret as Mama but i feel like this cannot be a direct sequel to Death Stranding. That game just ended well as it was and we could just move on. I think returning to it would be a little redundant and tbh, i think it speaks more to a bankrupt creativity on the part of Kojima but i digress, i'm not his biggest fan.

Haven't watched the trailer yet but I loved my time with the first so this will be on my radar regardless. So Kojima is working on this and that other hardly shown game for Xbox, correct?

Agreed. I was into the game until I unlocked the 2nd map and then was wondering if I wanted to deal with the dark oil monsters again while making deliveries. I put the game on the side and haven't returned yet. Eventually I might jump back into it. I would like it more if the enemies didn't interrupt things so drastically or if the character could quickly recover the scattered items. There is an interval of every few minutes, more of those dark oil creatures show up with the rain to mess things up.

Great visuals though.

Visually, looks pretty cool.
From a continuity perspective and business marketing choice, I'll bet they're still sticking with Death Stranding as the main title. Maybe a different subtitle. Death Stranding: Reborn or something.

Yeah, very little is known about their Xbox title. Safe to assume it will be their next game after DS2.

I adored the delivery mechanics for the first title, but I also don't want the sequel to be that, but again. The delivery stuff felt perfect for the narrative of that game. Based on the trailer, I'm expecting something different for the next title.

I liked Death Stranding in general and the controls and map, and it has some cool ideas. The one thing I didn't enjoy was the inventory management. What a mess of overly complicated sorting. Hopefully Kojima heard the complaints and fixed the inventory management.

I loved traveling throughout the landscapes in the first game. I grew addicted to building roads and zip lines. Making deliveries was satisfying and I just liked spending time in that world. But I didn’t care for the story and I disliked the combat. I was able to enjoy what I liked about the first game but I don’t think I can put up with the things I didn’t like again. This will be a wait-and-see release for me.

I feel like the fact we saw Fragile looking the way she did, this can't be set in the exact same world. It has to be an alternate thing going on.

It could also be a dream sequence of some kind.

Definitely feels like we'll be playing with parallel/alternate universes. After all, Higgs showed up again at the end of the trailer lol.

It's a Kojima game so none of it has to make sense. As much as I loved the lonely/melancholy vibe of the first game I think it would be weird to go for that again. If the gameplay is going to be similar to the first they'll have to try something different with the visual design.

Man, I would have preferred a new stealth game similar to MGS than a sequel to DS.

Maybe later, who knows...

Personally i want a remake of Syphon Filter from Sony as a 1st part title and i'd like Kojima kept away from it. He's always guaranteed to do 2 things if he's involved in development as like the main guy. 1) Take a ton of time making it & 2) spend a bunch of your time making you watch cutscenes as he tries to make a movie and dress it up as a game.

I said this before, but Death Stranding showed Kojima isn't as great as he's made out to be. I would even argue, some elements succeed in spite of him.

The stealth genre is dying or already has since the three main ones have not received a new game for a while now. Snake, Sam Fisher, and Logan.

I personally don't even consider Blacklist a Splinter Cell title since Sam Fisher was voiced by someone new rather than Michael Ironside and that was a huge deal-breaker for me. Good stealth game, but not a Splinter Cell game.

Of course, that's just my opinion.
