Exclamation Nine Inch Nails is the best picture and sound of any Blu-ray

I watched this again last night and wanted to reiterate that this the best looking and sounding Blu-ray of any currently. There's no grain in the picture and the audio is phenomenal. Why they intentionally put grain into movies is beyond me. We need more concert Blu-rays because, they obviously can't hammer down the PQ on some of these Blu-rays. I believe it has a Dolby True HD audio track but, my reciever can onlt do Dolby digital, DTS+DTS-ES.

I love this one as well. I saw NIN on this tour and this is just about as good as being there. It's weird though, as I'm used to seeing Nine Inch Nails in videos like Closure (where the hell is the DVD of this!?!), where it looks like amateur video, so the pristine-ness of this presentation is a bit of a shock.

Now bring on some Tool!!! Tool with PCM . . . Love your avatar

Thanks for the tip. I want to build up my concert BD collection. Only have 3 so far.

Would love to see the videos they did with Mark Romanek in blu. Hopefully they will add it in the special features of a future release.

I have to check this out. What are the specs on this BD? About concert BDs, try Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City Music Hall...awesome audio and video quality.

Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds blows this away.

one big tip before you watch this: most of the songs will seem like mediocre PQ but that is the SMOKE on the stage, not the BD. to confirm, go to the track where NIN put a projector screen across the whole stage with a giant bird xray on the screen (yeah its why we love them , and no smoke is anywyere, the crowd are so crisp they literally look like they're trying to get out of my TV...its sick

Holy Crap! Tool would be awesome. The visuals for their live show have really grown. I saw them at Bonnaroo (among other places), and Maynard was in the dark for the whole show, they really tried to highlight the visuals... The sound though... wow ... bring it on...

I bought into HD because of this BD, but I have to admit, the Dave Matthews one does give it a run for its money.

While it is extensively reported on this site, film-based material have grain due to the nature of the film. On the other hand, movies shot with high-def cameras (digital) do not have grain but some directors add some grain to give the movie a film like effect, which is often desirable. I do not want every movies to look like The Tonight Show with Jay Lenno...

But this concert is really great! And since I didn't get a chance to see them in Ottawa in 2006 (the show was canceled...).

Now I can see it anytime I want in the comfort of my home !

The PQ is better, but the content is weaker IMO. Dave is talented, but he'd have to drive all night before he got anywhere near the exit ramp to "interesting" or "provocative".

It reads as 1080i, even though the packaging and the website (halo22.nin.com) says it's 1080p . . . TrueHD soundtrack.

Also according to the website, the bitrate was bumped for the Blu-ray release (it also says it's hardly noticeable, but still ).

I've been tempted to pick up the DM/TR release, but I really don't care for Dave Matthews' voice.

Blasphemy! is coming for you!

I have two of the Blu-ray samplers . . . and one HD DVD. I'm a Nine Inch Nails freak, and it's the only HD DVD I own.

The best-looking/sounding concert disc, yes.

Best-looking/sounding overall? Not quite. That honour goes to Ratatouille.

Yes, it's flagged/output at 1080i60... but the content is 1080p30.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but I love NIN. However, I will say that the With Teeth cd that this particular live tour was going for is probably Trent's worst outting.

The songs on that CD I would try before completely giving up: Terrible Lie, March of the Pigs, Burn, Gave Up, Wish, Hurt, and of course Head Like a Hole.

Those songs are pretty classic NIN songs and better embody what Trent is really about. The songs off With Teeth were lacking for me and for most older NIN fans in general.

Also, their live show is amazing, this disc doesn't do it justice. Good image and sound quality though, and I personally still like the disc. Try finding "Closure" on VHS for a true NIN experience!

BTW, to the person asking where the Closure DVD is, it was completed about 4 years ago but was in limbo because of some issues with their record label Interscope.

Now that Trent left the label and is solo, I don't know if we will ever see that disc. It is really a bummer if we don't, that is the best NIN DVD by far.

I have a copy of Closure that most believe was leaked by Trent that I downloaded, but I only watch it if I REALLY have the jones. I hate watching stuff on computer/computer output to TV. I have a leaked master copy of Broken too . . . MUCH better than the old bootlegs that were out.

Year Zero was supposed to be a two-part album, and Trent has said on nin.com that big news is coming in the next two weeks, so hopefully the follow up to YZ is on its way. Hopefully after both parts are out we'll get another Blu-ray with the YZ stuff. What would be a really kickass BD live feature would be if they had links to the Year Zero ARG pages on the disc. I have no doubt that Trent will put out a quality product.
