United Kingdom The Last Shark aka Great White (1981) [Treasured Films]

Treasured Films are releasing Enzo G. Castellari's The Last Shark on Blu-ray in September. The disc was originally slated to ship in late June, but has been indefinitely delayed while an error with the disc is addressed. Replacement discs will be available to those who bought copies at the Weird Worcester convention.

Quote:
Author Peter Benton (James Franciscus) finds his idyllic summer thrown into a tailspin when he learns of an angry
35 feet long great white shark is out for blood and targeting local swimmers at the nearby beach resort. The mayor doesn't seem to give a damn, so it's up to him and veteran shark hunter Ron Hamer (Vic Morrow) to put an end to the great white's bloody rampage. Sound familiar?

Boasting some truly memorable and gory set pieces, especially one involving a helicopter, and a catchy and killer soundtrack merging the best of disco and the De Angelis brothers; THE LAST SHARK is an essential entry in the dubious Italian Sharksploitation sub-genre and directed by none other than celebrated Italian action maestro Enzo G. Castellari (The Inglorious Bastards, High Crime) this high seas eco-horror makes its UK Blu-ray debut loaded with brand new extra features in this much-treasured special edition!

This movie is hilarious... was lucky enough to see this in the theater in the US during it's very limited release before Universal sued it out of existence. I've seen it since on Youtube and it holds up. Would be neat to see in HD.

I'm in - hopefully the sound won't be megacompressed like the used for the Rifftrax version.

I have the old Danish DVD release. I was planning to upgrade to the German BD, which came out almost two years ago, but reviews said it was an old master with a horrible amount of DNR. I hope this release will look better, but I definitely holding off until I see reviews.

Too bad they couldn’t include the us Great White cut with the alternate score. Hopefully this will get a release by Severin or Vinegar Syndrome in the US.

Does anyone know why the label only ships to the UK and US but no other country? It's the first time I see a random add-on country.

This is tough because yes, this is the first official English-friendly Blu-ray... but the master used on the German Blu-ray was scrubbed like a James Cameron movie.

Hopefully, the English audio sounds better than what was on the Danish DVDs.

Because you never know. Lots of people double dip in general. I have become such a person. In this end we also don't know what this version will look like. Maybe it's a slightly different cut, different extras. Who knows.
I know, you didn't ask me but I thought you'd be interested in more opinions.

Pre-ordered.

Two, in fact.

Why? Because I wanted to.

As an aside, I don't know if anybody else clicked around on the "Outside the UK" link that Dally provided, but they sell a ton of stuff on their site, so I took the liberty of ordering a few additional (evidently now out-of-stock) items while I was there...

I sure hope they package things securely....

Everything I've ever ordered from them has arrived in near bomb proof packaging. I'm in the UK though, not sure about overseas

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I expect that they will do the same for US shipping as well. Thank you for taking time to share your experiences with them!

As an aside, I have to say that I was extremely impressed with everything they offer on their site. That's a serious gem of a retailer you all in the UK have.
