Default Hp Hdx

Hey,

I recently ordered a HP HDX with a blu-ray drive and was wondering if anyone else here uses it to watch blu-ray movies. It has a 1080p 20.1" screen and i was also wondering if the Ati HD2600XT is enough for blu-ray.

Thanks,

Phil

Your system should paly blu rays just fine. The 2600XT has hardware decoding. You monitor is kind of small to enjoy a full length movie though.

I beg to differ.
Not everyone needs to sit across the room from a 50-70" HDTV to enjoy a 1080p movie.

I do fine here with a 17" screen.
I do fine sitting anywhere(literally) and watching a Blu-ray.

AFAIK, although I am a fan of nvidia, ATi XT 2600 HD is the best to encode BD/HD DVD because it took over most of the workload from the processor.
Still, I prefer nVIDIA 8800

HP Pavilion HDX is my main BD player. It came with HD DVD, but i replaced it with BD.

I got mine back in Oct 2007, when there was no option for BD and nVIDIA card. also mine is not full HD (1680x1050), but the difference is not noticeable with 20 inch screen. So i don't mind
