Default MPEG 2 editor

Okay - this is not directly related to BD but I figured someone here could make a good recommendation.

I want to edit some of my track videos and am looking for a piece of software that will allow me to do this.

I use a Hi-8 camera (will be replaced with a BD camera soon hopefully ) to record while on the track, then connect it to my Hauppauge video capture card and convert to MPEG 2.

I have a program that will edit then burn to DVD, what I want is a program that will allow me to edit the MPEG 2 and keep it on the HDD.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
