Default Any Shrek Fans Here?

I haven't seen any discussion on Shrek. The first two films are among my favourite animated and mainstream films. How about the third one? I'm trying to never mention the third one again in my life.

It will be so great to see this in HD blu. I don't think we'll see a release until next year. I hope Dreamworks can switch asap and start releasing some of their most popular catalogue titles before 2008 is over.

I liked 1 and 2, have not seen 3 because of my Paramont / Universal boycott. Yes, they will be great to se on Blu.

Yeah, I really like the first two and would gladly pick them up on Blu.

However, I don't have even the slightest desire to get Shrek the Turd!

LOL! Good one. I agree. How do you guys feel about Shrek Goes Fourth and then the Puss in Boots spin off?

Eh, that kind of turns me off from the series in a way. It's now in the direction of previous Disney sequels and spin offs made for children that can't recognise a good quality film.

I thought they progressively got worse.

The only one I really enjoyed was the first one (I might pick it up at the right price -- ~$15). The second I thought was pretty good (second rate compared to Pixar, while Shrek 1 felt like it could have been a Pixar movie). Third one I thought was pretty mediocre (Bee movie looks to be the same way, although I didn't see it).

Well, a series that is going to span 5 or 6 movies is bound to hit a bump or two. Hopefully that's as bad as it gets and they can redeem themselves with #4.

While I still some hope for Shrek 4 (way more than I've had for most disney sequels), I am not excited about the spinoff at all. The character is really awful in my opinion and I dread how many times we'll see the cute eyes in a film all about puss n boots.

I'd probably buy them all though as I'm a bit of a completionist. can't stand owning only parts of a set (I'd certianly buy them all if they are part of a BOGO). There may still be hope for me though as I never did buy Jurassic Park 2 or 3.

Yeah, I enjoyed the first 2 movies.

The 3rd was watchable but not a touch on the first two.

I would buy them if they ever see a blu release.

I concur. Would definitely get 1... and very likely 2. I will get 3 only if it comes in a box set.

HAVE TO HAVE TRANSFORMERS....

Only the first 2 for me as well. Took kids to see the turd one and it did nothing for me. I can't seem to recall a single moment where I laughed, and thats a shame. The first 2 had that quality and I can honestly say I would watch them over and over and I'm 51. Mind you I love Bug Bunny Road Runner Show and Flintstones, so what does that tell you.

I'd get at least the first two on blu. I was disappointed with the third one.

Honestly, I think Toshiba didn't get their $150 millions worth with no Shrek 1 or 2 on HD-DUD, then Saturday Night Fever and Grease got yanked too.

I'd like all 3 movies on Blu, with Shrek the Halls as a bonus feature for Shrek the Third.

Over the Hedge, Flushed Away (the singing snails are AWESOME!), and some of their other films are good, but Shrek 1, 2, 3 are not only boring and drag along most of the time, but are also filled with perverse innuendo which really isn't suitable for such a movie.

I thought the original Shrek was charming and fresh (albeit laced with a mean-spirit in the details that few really picked up on).

The 2nd film was garbage -- one cheap pop culture gag after another. The concluding "American Idol" parody on the DVD is one of the most painfully bad assemblages of animated pap ever produced on American soil.

And seeing as how apparently everyone dislikes the third film, I can't imagine how bad it is compared to the 2nd. I suppose it would be intellectually honest to see the third film for myself, but life's too damn short. And it's too short for Shrek 5 and Shrek 10.

You know, the 2nd wasn't based on a traditional fairy tale but it kept the emotional connection from the first film. You didn't find it funny at all? What about the story? It was well written for an original story. The third is bad because the plot isn't interesting, there is no emotional effect, and the characters are boring now cos nothing new happens.

Can you elaborate on the mean-spirit details of the first one? I'm really interested.

The first was okay, nothing great but watchable. The 2nd was horrible and so I never went to see the 3rd in theaters.

I'm sure the 4th and the 5th will be even crappier....
