Default Blu-ray playback on PC

I know this topic has probably been beaten with a dead horse but...I'll ask anyways. I'm at my wits end...

I just set up a media center PC I have a GeForce 8500GT, Pioneer BDC-S02BK drive, its all running to my samsung 50" plasma with HD tuner. The software that comes with the drive is Cyberlink PowerDVD...says it plays BD but it won't

suggestions?

It won't play BD in dual monitor mode, so I think you have to set the HD-TV as the only monitor while watching them.

What is a bit misleading is that on the advertising on the box, it says it will play BD..it doesn't say you have to upgrade

How is that misleading. You're just "upgrading" or "patching" the software (for free). Do you know what a software patch is?

I had a case with an LG drive trying to play BD. I wasn't getting any error mesages, the damn thing just wouldnt play. It would load up the software, then close down just as it was about to play. Took me days to figure out, but it was a driver problem in the end. Some old sound card drivers were causing the issue. Just a thought..

I'm not getting an error message at all...it plays with no picture. Like you can see the timer going but no sound or picture.
