Default Now it can be revealed how Toshiba could have saved hd-dvd

Now that it's too late to save hd-dvd, I will reveal how Toshiba could have saved it. It's simple really. Toshiba makes HDTVs with built-in DVD players. They should have marketed one with a built-in hd-dvd player.

i will at once feed this information to the other forums i frequent, so the remaining HD DVD supporters ("to the end", "going down with the ship") have something else to add to their lists of "whys" and "what ifs".

Excellent. That could turn out to be REALLY funny. Be sure to compare how Sony putting a Blu-ray drive in the PS3 could have been countered by Toshiba putting a hd-dvd player in a HDTV.

Nah... Toshiba should have invented a console called the LameStation and put a built-in HD DVD player in that sucker. It would've FLOWN off the shelves...

...back to the manufacturer.

Ok again using my powers of recall, I already suggested a blu-ray rendition of HDTV months ago. The idea was shot down big time. This would not have saved HD DVD. If anything it would hasten the obsolecense of the HDTV unit!

Like the Regza series needs anything else... like a built-in HD DVD drive...dooming it.

Green push FTW!

My OP was a joke anyway. However, I do think it's odd to have a HDTV with a built-in DVD player. A SDTV with one would make more sense. If a company is going to put in something like that, it should be something that matches up.

Wasn't sure how serious you were. You need to learn to use the emote when you are being sarcastic.

True, a DVD player on a HDTV is an illfitting technology balance. Once they get the whole spec thing nailed down, I think I would welcome a TV with BD player. But as I have once stated, it has to be a "blade unit", where it can be easily removed for service or replacement. About the only moving part on a tv these days are the actual buttons, which is why they last so long. TV's with players need to be accessible - period.

I used the clown emote instead. I guess that didn't convey the point.

Clowns are just too weird. Do you know why cannibles won't eat clowns? They taste "funny".
