WTF? ... I watched Oprah yesterday, and William Shatner was on. After talking with him she gave the audience the entire series of StarTrek in full High Def, hddvd. The showed it up close (hddvd) right on the boxes.
What a waste. Doesn't she or her production staff have a clue that hddvd is a dead format, and most audience members will never be able to use those free high def versions of StarTrek. Did Toshiba buy her out a while back or something, or is someone on her production staff a complete red ant? ![]() |

Shrug Not like they're going to sell them. Might as well give them to an audience. When they go back home and can't play them, they'll probably shrug it off since it was free anyway.

The format is deceased so it doesn't matter (to us).

I wonder how may Oprah fans watch Star Trek. Its like a woman receiving a beard trimmer or a man receiving a set of ear rings.

Well since she's convinced people that you can get things just by wishing for it and she's into all kinds of magical thinking and quack medicine... supporting HD-DVD is right up here alley.

![]() ![]() ![]() P.S. In all seriousness... The Star Trek remastered Season 1 is a combo disc release (HD DUD + DVD) and since these new "remastered" Star Trek episodes are only available on this set... she did not have the option of giving the audience a DVD only set because one does not exist. Probably 99% of the audience does'nt and NEVER will have HD DUD. |
