When will we get some Japanese RPGs on PS3?

I find it strange that over one year after launch and we don't have any JRPGs.

PS1 and PS2 were both known for a huge selection of JRPGs:

Persona (Shin Megami Tensei), Final Fantasy and spin-offs, Suikoden series, Rogue Galaxy, Dragon Quest series, Growlanser, Shadow Hearts, Wild Arms, Disagea, Grandia, Arc the Lad, Star Ocean series, Xenosaga series ETC ETC.


Where are the games like this for PS3?

I have heard about Final Fantasy XIII, but that is about it.

Does anyone have any news on these types of games??

White Knight Chronicles
Eternal Sonata (Trusty Bell in Japan)
Disgaea 3
Steamboat Chronicles 2
Last Remnant
Star Ocean 4 (not confirmed to be PS3, but lol where else is it going to?)

There's a dozen other games that are at least known about/suspected, but with no confirmed projected release window as well.

The only one I know of that is already out and was pretty good is Enchanted Arms, which these days is really cheap to buy. As for games coming soon, there is one more title that is called like White Knight Story that looks to be an awesome original idea that is already out in Japan, and is due sometime this year or early next year.
EDIT or as poster above I guess its now called White Knight Chronicles.

I played through enchanted arms on the 360 because it was released on that format much earlier. Enjoyed Folklore for the PS3 very much but not sure it is really a JPRG.

I can't say that I really LOVE Enchanted Arms. I do enjoy the story, but the gameplay mechanics are a little limited IMO. But I am glad that I picked it up for $20 brand new!

Used to be the PS2 had all the rpg games and xbox didn't. Now the 360 has all the rpg games and the PS3 doesn't. What gives?

That's okay though because the PS3 has some awesome platform games.

Enchanted Arms for PS3 I think was better then the Xbox 360 version in my personal opinion because I loved the Sixaxis controlling

I don't know how you came to conclusion that the 360 has all the RPG's and the PS3 doesn't? A whole bunch of exclusive and multiplatform PS3 RPG's were already listed in this thread. By the end of the year the PS3 will have more to choose from.

360 has more released to this point because it released a year earlier, Microsoft made it worth Japanese publishers' while to try the platform for success (which they haven't seen) and they assisted with the startup of Mistwalker who similarly haven't set the RPG genre on fire.

What's sad, is playing Lost Odyssey, alot of the evidents faults are things resolvable with a PS3 version, either from the BD-Rom, or from the mandatory HDD.

I suspect you won't see any till the end of the year.

Maybe White Knight story by the 4th qtr....maybe.

Final Fantasy 13 won't be till 2009.

Last Remnant from Square (coming to X360 as well) is probably a 4th qtr release as well.

Where did you hear that Shin-ra? I email Namco weekly on this and have gotten no info.

I would think that rpgs take a little bit longer to make then "platformer" games.

So give em some time to put stuff together for us. I hope they make another summoner
game Im really upset that the 60gb is not compatible with the original summoner but the
80 gig is. WHY!!

I'd be shocked if any of these games released in 2008..
