this is from cnet.com sounds like you just plug and play If the standard connectivity options of dual component-video and HDMI inputs sound scanty, then the extra HDMI jack on the PDP-507XG may appeal to you. If that's not enough, how about 1080p compatibility for all the four video sockets? These should come in handy for Pioneer's upcoming Blu-ray player, Sony PlayStation 3 and other next-gen A/V boxes

Setting the PS3:

Settings - BD/DVD Settings - BD 1080P 24Hz Output (HDMI) - "On"

Also looking at the specs of the TV it has a resolution of 1365 X 768 ... you will not have true 1080p.

Also, the only way to watch bluray movies on the PS3 at 1080p is with an HDMI cable. Are you using an HDMI cable to connect?

Not going to do 24hz if you don't support 1080p

From reading this information it does say "1080p / 24Hz compatible"

...although 'compatible' and capable are two different things.

hi sir. im using a HDMI cable. i don't really play BD movies, i only play games on my PS3. when i adjust the display settings on auto, it can detect 1080p but when i set it manually, it's only up to 1080i. what gives?

Reviving this thread:
I use Sony KLV-40X200A with my PS3 @ 1080p. I have huge library of blu-ray and enjoying the 1080p movies with occasional gaming.

Will using PDP-507XG with my PS3 give me the same experience/results? Or will I be suffering some downgrade in quality not accounting for the size?

I only just found this forum and have not read up on the 1080p/24 variations or whatnot.

Moving later this year and planning home theater setup that was previously limited by tiny apartment. Want bigger as always with my Sony going to the bedroom and looking at the new 60inch 8th gen KURO plasmas from Pioneer for the home theater. But that was until I saw the news of the prototype @ CES that looked even more stunning - I can't bear to pay up for the 8th gen pioneer's knowing that is in the wings.

Someone offering me a practically new Pioneer PDP-507XG for practically nothing (basically lending it to me) and I want to use this in the interim while waiting for the new Pioneers to come out. Of course this is uncertain so I want to check the PDP-507XG a bit before calling in this favor.
