MLB '08 DEMO Rocks! Amazon says release is 2/29/08 - Blu-ray Forum

WOW just got done playing the PS3 download for MLB '08 and all I can say is smooth. Seriously, I've been playing baseball games for years and this by far was the smoothest, most well rounded feeling game yet and I only played the demo of the SOX vs. ROCKIES. The graphics are once again top notch as is the audio, fielding, base stealing , even running bases (which I've always had problems with) is better. The only minor complaint was the game seemed too "bright", again it was kust the demo but the players shadows looked a bit deep and hard. I know I'm being picky, just an observation. Amazon says this game is being released on the 29th...so - you guessed it, my order went in tonight...Can't wait to whip the SOX with the YANKS...

The show has always been my favorite, been enjoying it more now that ea maddens aren't as smooth as the ps2 gameplay lately

I haven't played a baseball game in years, and this admittedly isn't my type of game, but I checked out the demo and WOW! The character detail and animation is some of the most realistic I have ever seen. It's absolutely slick, and is was a pleasure to play a sports game NOT made by EA. I'm considering getting this one, even though I couldn't bat for shit in the demo! I got pitching down, but sheesh.

It could have been a trifecta from hell, the way the Celtics are doing this year.

My Sox are going to solidfy their dynasty of the 2000's with another title this year.

I am the only bostonian I know that hates the patriots. I couldn't stand to see them again so I am so happy the G-Men won. Loved it. I hate the Celtics..they suck.

Don't worry the celtics have died down cuz of injuries so I dont think they will be too much of a threat.

Really? There are three teams that come out of the East (Celtics, Pistons, Cavs). So since they have a 1/3 chance of getting to the finals, I'd call them a threat.

yeah, i play the demo a lot. it is so fun and very impressive. great animations and camera angles. that replay vault is going to be incredible. can't wait to play with Prince and Ryan Braun. the Brew Crew will be in the Series this year. my only nitpick is with the crowd. the same group of 20 or 30ish people is repeated throughout the stands...so when a guy in a white shirt stands up and claps, there are 15 other clones of this guy doing the exact same thing on a grid. it looks cheesy, but i'll get over it.

the beach ball in the crowd is pretty cool, and it seems quite random. i wonder if it will ever bounce onto the field.

Are you playing it in 720p or upscaled to 1080p? The reason I asked is that when you choose to have it upscaled to 1080p, the graphics change a little bit. For one, some of that brightness that you speak of is gone. Also, the crowd is sharper and not so out of focus. I think the field textures are a little sharper as well. I can't remember if it effects the shadows or not.

The downside to playing it upscaled is that the game goes from 60fps to 30fps. It's still smooth and it still plays great, but it does affect the look and feel of the game. Personally, I prefer it at 720p at 60fps.

i saw a few people who pre ordered it on amazon and it still said it would ship onthe third or fourth. so it winds up being no real change when you actually do get the game.

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon with overnight shipping (thanks PRIME).

It says that the estimated delivery is March 4th.

Last night I played an 8-inning game on the demo. I was holding it down for a bit. Fun game.

I have it downloaded on my PS3 and PSP. The game rocks! I also have it reserved on PS3 at Gamestop! 6 more days!!! I can't wait to kick those over priced babies aka the Yankees asses with the Red Sox!

The Yanks are the most over-hyped team in any sport of all time.

They haven't won a World Series since 2000. And before their mini-run, they didn't win one for 16 years.

The Yanks have lost in two World Series since 2000 and have blown it in the playoffs.

They're a good team, but not great like they are portrayed, which honestly is shocking given all the money spent and players acquired.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this game, so I can finally take the Mariners into the promised land.

I have also played the download and the graphics are great. Too bad baseball is like watching grass grow in 1080i.
