Default How do Fox titles look and sound?

I only have 25 BDs but not 1 fox title yet. I want to pick up the 2 Fantastic 4 movies, but havent made the jump due to price. Now Im definetly going to buy ID4 no question in my mind, and I already know it will be 23.88 at my Walmart which is a great price for Fox. This movie is from 96 so its not a new movie which has the technology of today, but I was wondering what I can expect from this title PQ and AQ wise, and are other Fox BDs worth 30-35 dollars?

Fox titles are very high quality for PQ and esp SQ with most titles being produced in DTS HDMA. Shop on Amazon for your Fox titles not found at Wallmart. ID4 will be extremely impressive on BD.

fox titles are good... it sucks the ps3 doesn't decode dts-hd ma which all fox titles use. (idk if you use ps3)..... a lot of people complain they dont have enough bonus features... but that really isnt a big deal to me. the movies look and sound good though... fantastic four movies are a great choice if you are going to pick some up.. some other good ones are castaway (amazing!), simpsons movie, and live free die harder

The recent Fox titles have been good in PQ/SQ but in general 75% of the earlier FOX titles have only average PQ. To be honest Fox has been the worst Studio for Blu-ray.

Fox movies (Die Hard 4, Day After Tomorrow, Fantastic 4 (2), Kingdom of Heaven, Simpsons Movie), have all been some of the better looking and sounding Blu-rays I've played on my PS3/65" DLP.

Can't speak to any other movies - however, I have been very impressed with Fox thus far.

I think many Fox titles have reference audio. Just pick up Live Free or Die Hard, or Mr. and Mrs. Smith. You'll be blown away, I know I was.

They look great, the also have lossless sound, but unfortunately they use DTS-HD MA so most of us don't know how great they sound.

They are some of the best visually-but I just don't think the price=visual feast is worth it. 40$ MSRP for a blu-ray, no thanks. I only pick up Fox titles if they are in a BOGO, which means I doubt I'll be picking up any more of them-minus ID4.

Panasonic Hollywood Labs are doing the majority of MPEG-4 encodes for both Fox and Disney.

Hence why I said 40$ msrp as opposed to retailer price. 28$ for a single movie is still too much for a single disc (unless it's special editions such as Close Encounters or Blade Runner).

I think they did a great job with most of their titles. They have some of my favorites in terms of the movie itself and the PQ/SQ.

Here are some they did a great job with (imo, of course):

Sunshine
Kingdom of Heaven
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Live Free or Die Hard
Man on Fire
The Simpsons Movie
The Day After Tomorrow
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Ice Age: The Meltdown

I have the following movies from Fox:

Die Hard 1-4
The Simpsons
Speed
Fantastic 4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer

The Simpsons, Silver Surfer, and Live Free or Die Hard are all reference quality. They look and sound absolutely amazing. Die Hards 1-3 and Speed look really good even though they are all 10+ year old, they just aren't reference quality.

Overall, I would say Fox is a really good studio. If their prices were more in tune with Disney, Sony, and WB, then I would say they were one of the best studios.

i for one hate extras...i barely got time for the movie let alone 4 hrs of crap so 28$ for superb video and audio is worth it since this will be the last time i buy these im sure

I only have PHONE BOOTH and THE SIMPSONS MOVIE on Blu-Ray. I'll admit that yes they do have incredible PQ and AQ. PHONE BOOTH really blew my mind in both categories.

Oddly enough, I don't really have a lot of Fox titles that I'm itching to get. Looking at their slate, only BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID intrigues me. While Conrad L. Hall's cinematography will look fantastic on Blu-Ray, that's more of a rent than a buy for me. Would have picked up RONIN if not for its delay. And if they re-release THE DIE HARD COLLECTION with the unrated version of the fourth film, I'll also get those.

The Fox movie titles I have are...
ANNIE HALL (I think they acquired that from MGM, right?)
THE COMMITMENTS
THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL
FIGHT CLUB
GARDEN STATE
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR
PLANET OF THE APES
SIDEWAYS
X MEN
X2: X-MEN UNITED

The two X-MEN movies I think will be out by the end of the year, so no waiting on that. DAY I'm hoping they'll release on Blu when they release the remake around Xmas. APES and FIGHT CLUB I would get in a heartbeat if they announce those two. The rest I think will take a while to get around to. ANNIE HALL (if the studio does own it now) I think will be the last, simply because it's Woody Allen. Nuff said.

Other older titles I'd like to get would be the STAR WARS series, the first two ALIEN movies, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (the one Mel Brooks movie I REALLY want) and maybe THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. Also, I might consider THE THIN RED LINE. It's not my favorite Terrence Malick film, but it's Malick. His movies need to be shown at 1080p.

The Fox TV-DVD's I have are...
24: DAYS 1-4
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (the entire series)
FIREFLY: THE COMPLETE SERIES
FUTURAMA (the entire series)

I'm praying that the SE of Day 1 they're releasing this summer will be on Blu-Ray as well. It just has to. The rest of the days I'll also get on Blu-Ray if they announce them. I'm a big 24 addict. I'm also a Browncoat, so if they release FIREFLY on Blu-Ray, that's also a must. FUTURAMA I'm fine if they take their time with. I'm just glad they're releasing three more direct-to-DVD movies. Same with ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.

What can you expect from Fox? Reference audio and video. Virtually every single one of their day and date titles from the past nine months are stellar and among the best HD ever seen. AVC encodes in the 30-40 Mbps range with lossless DTS-HD MA every single time. If every studio followed Fox's model I'd be very happy. Fantastic Four 2 is incredible.
