Default Corel WinDVD 9 Plus is now out?

Check out this Corel Japanese website. They have WinDVD 9 Plus that has just been released on December 25, 2007.
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli.../1189528392361
It will play both Blu-Ray and HD DVD and it has wider video card support than the current WinDVD 8 BD/HD version.

It's in Japanese. Use babelfish.altavista.com for the translation.

When are we going to see the English version of WinDVD 9 Plus? I am tired with PowerDVD Ultra that has lots of problems with BD and HD movies.

Corel is a BDA member. Should not be long now.

OK, it looks like that they have 30 days trial version. http://www5.ulead.co.jp/~download/tr...D9_JP_TBYB.exe

I am downloading it now. Let's see how it goes.

Updated: Jan 7, 7:55AM.
It looks like that there is no trial version for WinDVD 9 Plus. The link above is only for WinDVD 9 regular version which does not support HD or Blu-Ray discs.

Yes, it is. Corel bought Intervideo so WinDVD development is now under control by Corel. PowerDVD has better user interface but in my Vista system, it has problems playing Blu-Ray encoded with MPEG4-AVC. WinDVD has much better compatibility. It plays nearly all movies that I rent from Netflix.

I would say WinDVD is a lot better for DVD, because there is several audio/video option, making your sound system sound better. PowerDVD does not offer this thing.
I owned both, PowerDVD for BD (no probs with AVC, majority of my titles are AVC), WinDVD for SD DVD

What the hell ! Amazon removed the link. Does it mean WinDVD 9 Plus won't be released on Feb 22?

According to Corel, WinDVD 9 Plus for Blu-Ray and HD will be released in March of 2008. Cost...89.00-99.00 Will support both formats. Why support both format when Blu-Ray won. By then sound cards will supoort DTS-HD and TrueHD and hopefully monitor will support 1080p/24.

I'm actually glad it supports both formats I mean I still plug in my xbox 360 HD drive to my PC from time to time and I still have my Blu ray burner on my laptop as well.

Where did you get the information with the price and release date?

Because it makes perfect business sense. More people will buy WinDVD software if it supports both formats. Corel will get more money from those who still have large collections of HD DVD. I don't think politics is anywhere near Corel agenda nor should it be.

U.S. distributor Ingram Micro is now predicting a March 13 arrival date for their first, retail-boxed shipments of WinDVD 9 Plus. But that initial batch will be small, like 110 copies spread out over five U.S. warehouses.

Retail copies will eventually be available in two packaged versions:
  • WD9PLENPC - full-size retail box
  • WD9PLENPCMB - mini-box
I'd assume the mini-box will more often be shipped by online resellers, with the full-size box more likely showing up on B&M shelves. Online pre-order prices are currently in the 62 to 66 USD range.

Anyone get their hands on version 9 yet? Do any online or B&M retailers actually have in stock? Anyone find this available to buy / download? I still haven't seen anything on Corel's USA site.

This product will be in stock on Monday, March 17, 2008. Pre-Order this item today.

Can't vouch for the claim of March 17 though... Guess we will have to wait and see.
