Default about xvYCC in 8 bit panels

I have a Samsung HDTV with 8 bit panel and 10 bit processing, so why is a "xvYCC" menu option avaible?

When I turn it on the only thing I notice is that the Picture becomes darker and less saturated.

xvYCC is color gamut not bit depth.

So in simple terms when you set it on the set expects a signal with brighter more saturated colors encoded

Panasonic BD30 has an option called "RGB Enhanced", I thought IŽd get better colors if I turned that on and actived the xvYCC. But that is the problem. I get darker and undersaturated pictures.

xvYCC is encoded in the same bits as normal 601/709 colour space encodings. It's supposedly backwards compatible.

"Deep colour" is the expansion of the number of bits, allowing more levels of the colours to eliminate contouring/posterization.

I figured out now how to use it. I dunno if it gets better with xvYCC turned on, but I guess it adds more depth.. =P
