I believe the 6 in 4806 is the model year. In which case its been replaced by the 4808. Dont know what ci is though but it may be an updated version or even a country code.

4308 actually. The principal difference is that the '08 models are HDMI 1.3a compliant and decode TrueHD and DTS HD MA, permitting you to bitstream those codecs to the AVR for decoding. In order to use TrueHD and/or DTS HD MA with the 4806, one would need to buy a player which decodes them internally and sends decoded output to the 4806 via MPCM.

"CI" means Custom Integration, meaning it will have a serial port for custom control options.

According to this: http://www.idoblu.co.uk/page2%20Blu-ray%20Players.html , the Sharp decodes TrueHD, but doesn't handle DTS HD MA (lossless DTS) at all. I'll assume you mean to say you have the Denon 2807, since I don't think there is/was a 2707.

What all this means is that you can get TrueHD by decoding it in the player and sending the MPCM to your 2807 via HDMI (or decoded analog via component cables? - see your Sharp manual). There's no way for you to get DTS HD MA with the Sharp, even if you upgrade your AVR to a 2808.
