Default Where are those Amazon deals for BR ?

Since Toshiba pulled plug on HD-DVD we have not seen any decent BOGO deals from Amazon for BR. My BR collection is in stalemate. Comeon Amazon shows us some love. I've stoped buying new BR as there is no good deal and spending $24+ on BR is too expensive. If BR needs to be main stream they definately will need to bring prices down on new disc release. Just as any new DVD release is $14.99 in first week if BR does that than only it is going to win against DVD. Lot of people will just rent a BR instead of shelling out $25 on each new movie.

just my .02

100% agree.

In the meantime I am scooping up new HD DVDs for $12 and less.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

There arent as many sales right now because its NOT CHRISTMAS TIME
THIS IS THE SLOW SEASON FOR SALES!!! Thats why there arent many sales right now (although there was a b2g1 a bit ago)

The bogos will come back. Dont jump to silly conclusions.

I hope you are right. And I am too spoiled for B2G1 to be a great of a deal.

BTW -- I just picked up Pan's Labyrinth for $10 shipped (but comes in a red case).

The B2G1 a month ago was pretty decent, especially good for anybody just jumping into Blu-ray as it had lots of Blu-rays best releases iirc.

I really hope you're right. I'm not a cheap person or anything. Its just that I'm only NOW starting to build my movie catalogue up and there are so many movies that have already come out that i want PLUS the new ones AND the future releases.

I'd go broke easily if I bought them all now without any type of savings....I just want 1 BOGO..maybe 2 and then I'll be set.

Come on Amazon...

When do you guys think we'll see another sale like that this year? Summer maybe?

This is getting to be a daily event.

There was a Buy 2 Get 1 sale at Amazon just a few weeks ago. There will be more sales in the future, but will most likely be on older titles (the usual Sony and Warner titles).

Patience.

In a way i kinda regret that HD-DVD pulled the plug so early. Funny when they were still around deals were poping up everywhere on both formats. Now that they are gone i think deals are going to be very few and far in between ie...*get use to it*. Blu-ray have no competition now...for them it's a sellers market. Right now i have a decent Blu-ray collection reference quality stuff. I am very selective about my Blu-ray purchases. If a movies ain't good or considered reference quality...i am not buying it. Also i love to buy em' after a Month or two from Amazon you know the calm after the storm.

Yeah, I'd really much rather someone give me a BOGO on gallons of gas.

haw. indeed.

in the meantime, i truly don't understand the folks who insist on continuing to blow more and more money on HD DVD. kudos to you, pick up some more players now too, while they're still around...

i dont overpay on amazon. i average 13-19 dollars. amazon loves giving out promo codes when you call and complain about things...and oh ya remember to look for price drops. 8 blu ray in the past 3 weeks have went to 14.95 for me.

Well -- maybe that's because my HD DVD players still work just fine, and the media is cheap. It's not like Toshiba or Warner sent out a code or something to render them all dead. The players work, the media looks and sounds great and its cheap. If you're movie fan -- owning both still makes sense to me.

I want to watch Beowolf (which I am doing now) and American Gangster in 1080p/24. Now, I will not spend more than $12 on HD DVD media -- but lately I have not had to. I just got American Gangster for $11. I paid $6 for Dune and The Mummy -- both of which I really enjoy.

No Amazon sale in 2 weeks, time to panic!!!!

Just bought 4 HP BDs last week for under $50 on BOGO sales, but haven't seen a sale in the last 72 hours so we're all screwed now I guess

Of course your going to see HD-DVD sales left and right since they are a depreciating format and the longer stores have them the less they can get for them.

BDs have been having sales quite often but common sense tells us that expecting them constantly isn't realistic. Fox lowering MSRP to near DVD MSRP levels is a good move last week.

welp, i hope you're okay with only watching it on that one player you own on that one TV.

better pick up more players now, like i said.

in addition, i find it laughable that you're attempting to compare clearance prices on a DEAD format with BD.

Well -- I own two already. And my XA2 has a 4 year Mack Warranty. I think I am all set.

And they will be available on Ebay for years to come.

What I want now is a second BR player. But I am waiting for the next gen players to start rolling out.

And I don't think I am comparing anything -- I just want some more cheap media. I will be jumping on the $10 off No Country for Old Men thing. But otherwise -- I am fine with renting most of my BRs (and HD DVDs) from Blockbuster.com.
