Default sony 46" xbr4 - wow!

simply "wow" !!

i've just upgraded my good old Grand Wega 720p rear-projection LCD to a 46" 1080P xbr4. what an incredible set this is! the calibration will take me a good long time (MANY MANY settings to play with), but the picture is superb this is how blu was meant to be seen.

not bad for a local purchase either -- CC had it online for $1000 off, so $2599. I'm sure it can be had online for less, but purchasing it locally was important.

that's not fair. I bought a 40 inch xbr2 last year for that price. I wish I would have waited. The xbr 2 is nice , but the xbr4 is nicer.

That's the way things usually work,
if everyone always waited for the next better thing
no one would ever own anything.

I'm sure everyone who now owns an xbr4/5 (including myself)
will feel the same way you do later this year.

That is of course, unless they have the dough to upgrade their equipement every year.
I know I sure as hell don't.

Congratulations on the new TV. The XBR4 is quite simply an incredible TV. I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and couldn't be happier.

Congrats and enjoy.

I want the 70" XBR.

However, I have an issue with Sony's pricing. Lets look at PPI (price per inch) on thier XBR4 line. I am using todays discounted MSRP from Sony Style.

KDL-40XBR4 @ $2,299.99 = $57.50 per inch
KDL-46XBR4 @ $2,999.99 = $65.28 per inch
KDL-52XBR4 @ $3,599.99 = $69.20 per inch
KDL-70XBR3 @ $32,999.99 =$471.43 per inch....WTF?

I might buy one if it were around $80.00 per inch, which would be $5,600.00. Or even $90.00 per inch at $6,300.00......in fact I would POUNCE on it for that.

Love umm I wll give the 'older'(not really old you know ) panny's to family & give um a Blu-ray player too so they can get in to the 'Blu' game & replace them with the 800/850 series Panny's , but the 65'' & 58'' don't come out till fall or something so it will be a while for those

Congratulations on your xbr4. I got my 40" xbr4 about a month ago and I'm loving it. The 40" was my way of preparing for an upgrade to a 60-70" in a couple of years. The 40" will be perfect for the bedroom and the 2010 technology can take its place in the living room. My upgrade portfolio is waaaay more conservative than Sonny's.

Watch the flyers and price match - I got the 52" XBR4 for $2705.99 at Circuit City last week with a price match (+ 10% diff) with Boscov's Dept. Store. The people at Circuit City were not happy with me. : )
