Both Denon players, the Panasonic BD30, and the Samsung BDP1400 all support DTS HDMA.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, What is the best BD player that offers all of the features that are now becoming standard, such as 24p DTS-HD MA, TRueHD 1.3a ect.

Being that you Onkyo 805 can 'decode' all the high bit advanced audio codecs, simply get a Blu-ray Player, like the Panasonic DMP-BD30 which will bitstream all those advanced audio codecs in their raw form (un-decoded) over to your Onkyo 805 for the decoding, amping, and out to your speakers. It's that simple. [Jim]

If you want to wait for a Player that has all the bells and whistles, late this summer is the Panasonic DMP-BD50 and a Sony BD550. These may be your next choice. [Jim]

The BD-30 will pass everything to your 805 and output 24p if your display officially supports it. (no force option with 24p).
Retail price of the BD-30 is $499 but you can find it for around $400.
Less if you can get access to the Panasonic purchase program through a qualified employer.

Check out:

http://www.idoblu.co.uk/page2%20Blu-ray%20Players.html

The Panasonic DMP-BD30 bitstreams DTS-HD Master and goes for around $500

The DMP-BD50 bitsteams and decodes DTS-HD Master and is the one I will probably get when it becomes available...my receiver isn't HDMI compatible, however it does have 7.1 analog inputs...Thank God!

When bitstreamed, the decoding is done in your AVR vs. in the player. You should see no difference.

You already have the onkyo 805 so you won't notice a difference if the player decodes the dts ma or your reciever. Makes sense that you want the reciever to do the decoding. Save the cash decoding blu ray players are going to cost more, and they are more for people that haven't upgraded the recievers but want the new audio from blu rays.

DTS-HD Master audio can be processed in one of two ways: (and the same goes for the other high res. audio)

1. It can be processed (decoded) within your BD player, converted to LPCM, then output via HDMI or multi-channel analog connections. (This method really caters to people with older receivers, like myself)

or

2. It is bitstreamed (the raw "untouched" DTS-HD Master data stream) through HDMI ver. 1.3 or higher to be decoded by an outboard decoder. (In this case your Onkyo rec. would be the outboard decoder).

If I were you, (if your looking to get another BD player to pair with your Onkyo rec.) I would make sure the player would bitstream all the audio formats and let your rec. do the work.

Just make sure you have everything setup correctly and use the proper connections.

I know RUR already answered this for you...just trying to be helpful

Thanks alot guys for the help, I put in the bd house of 1000 corpses and the AVR decoded the DTS-HD 7.1, but I tried mr.brooks, kingdom of heaven, day after tomorrow, diehard 4, saw 4, and the player showed regular DTS audio and I tried changing the audio format on the AVR but it would only give me DTS or pcm 7.1, how could the AVR turn a bd like kingdom of heaven which is DTS-HD MA 5.1 into a 7.1 pcm audio format?

look at: http://www.idoblu.co.uk/page2%20Blu-ray%20Players.html

This tells you that your Sony BDP-S500 will not bitstream nor decode DTS-HD Master audio. If it can't bitstream it to your AVR then your AVR certainly will not show "DTS-Master". So when you choose this (DTS-HD Master) in the disc menu, the player probably is "pulling" the core DTS (standard DTS) and sending it in bitstream and that's why it showing as DTS on your Onkyo.

Please also know there is a diff. between DTS-HR (DTS-HD) and DTS-HD Master. Your Sony BDP-S500 can bitstream DTS-HR thus is the reason why things seemed to work as expected with "1000 Corpses"
