Default eBay issue

Guys,

I received a Ebay package from musicmagpie completely damaged. I want a refund and started a case, now they want that i send the item back (shipping is around 3 times the value of the item). The thing is there is no way they can sell it again, it is so heavenly damaged.

Is it not that they need to refund me, even if i dont send back? I want to send it back if they pay the shipping, but they dont.

for them to refund you, you have to send it back not matter how you received it. If you open a return request and they accept they will should have send you a return label.

I am just wondering as to what sort of item might cost three times in postage.

Is this an international shipment? (That could account for postage being expensive).

With some sellers, there is a chance of obtaining a partial refund (this works out best for both parties as they might have offered free shipping to begin with). Perhaps that is a better option if they agree to it.

If you can kindly spare a bit more information, I might be able to help better.

Yes it is international shipping (USA > Netherlands). I got a message from eBay that they need to refund me 100% so should be good. Now let's see if they are going to respond on my message.

Do keep us posted. I hope you get a full refund.

Update :- The name sounded familiar so double checked on Ebay. Musicmagpie used to be called estocks.
I have purchased many an item myself (haven't got any damaged though) and I would say they are a reputable seller so you have nothing to worry about.

You should've refused the package at the post office, this way you don't pay shipping and the item is returned to the sender. I had issues with overseas package before and I refused it and got 100% money back.
